Chapter 14: Team Slytherin

*Roxy's POV*

The new term started. Umbridge was making new decrees faster than we were learning spells. It seemed like she was determined to bring every aspect of Hogwarts under her control. But she couldn't control anything that happened in the outside reality.

It was one morning during breakfast. Daphne, who had always been eager for any gossip, took the Daily Prophet everyday. She scanned the papers.

"Oh my!" She gasped, causing the three of us to turn sharply to her.
"What is it?" Jade asked anxiously. Daphne thrust the paper under our noses. My eyes widened.

Antonin Dolohov: convicted of the fatal murders of Gideon and Fabian Prewett

Augustus Rookwood: convicted of leaking Ministry of Magic secrets to He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named

And then one particular one that immediately caught my eye:

Bellatrix Lestrange: convicted of the torture and permanent incapacitation of Frank and Alice Longbottom

The picture showed an image of a pale woman with unkempt, straggly hair and heavily lidded eyes. She had a sort of insane look to her eyes, an arrogant and mad smile on her thin lips.

"Bellatrix Lestrange! Malfoy!" Hissed Cassidy. I frowned.

"What does Bellatrix Lestrange have anything to do with Draco?"

"Bellatrix Lestrange is his aunt," Jade explained, "Narcissa Malfoy's eldest sister." My eyes widened as I looked towards Draco, who was laughing with Blaise and Theo. Imagine having a devoted, mad, sadistic Death Eater for an aunt! The headline read:

MASS BREAKOUT FROM AZKABAN

"Do you see what this means?" I said in a hushed voice, "You-Know-Who broke them out of Azkaban last night! With the help of the Dementors. They're his natural allies. Azkaban is no longer secure." I glanced towards where the Golden Trio were sat. They too were holding a copy of the Daily Prophet and were looking extremely worried. Majority of others seemed carefree, not knowing that there had been a mass breakout of ten high-security prisoners.

"I can't eat my breakfast now," Cassidy grumbled. I snatched up the newspaper and stalked up to Draco. He looked up upon seeing me, but then he frowned upon seeing the expression on my face. Wordessly, I slid the Daily Prophet under his nose. He read it, and I saw the colour draining from his face. Others who read it with him gasped, paling.

"Ten high-security prisoners that have broken out, undoubtedly by the Dementors and You-Know-Who," I said, "Including Bellatrix Lestrange. Your aunt, Draco." He just stared down numbly. I sighed.

"I just thought I'd let you know." I picked up the paper again and walked back, handing it to back to Daphne.

Soon, the prisoners' escape was all over the castle. Even the teachers were talking about it, though not within earshot of the students or Umbridge. There was a new atmosphere in Hogwarts: tense and unnerving.

January passed into February, where Valentine's Day soon came upon us.

"Theo asked me out for a date on Valentine's!" Whispered Daphne to us excitedly.

"Well done!" Cassidy beamed. A couple of days later, Jade informed us that Blaise had asked her out, and she had said yes.

"I hope someone asks me," Said Cassidy dreamily.

"Oh, I'm sure they will!" Giggled Jade, "Have you seen the way Roger Davies looks at you?" Cassidy choked on air.

"What?!" She exclaimed.
