Chapter 33: Alone in the castle

A/N: Double digit...you know it's special sooo...

Warning: smut further on!!

The mist began to disperse, revealing dark, ghostly shadows.

"Lumos." Seven wand lights lit up the darkness. The lights fell across trees, plants, grass. Then statues and fountains no longer spurting water. They all hardly dared to breathe. The path they were on led to a bridge curving over a dried river. Roxy crossed it warily, afraid it would break underfoot, but it seemed strong. Ahead of the bridge was the Le Fay Castle. A shadowed, imposing complex that towered high and wide. Her eyes widened as she took it all in. She swept her wand light over the doors to the castle, but they were firmly shut. Then she spotted the emerald star on the silver doors. There was a dark green square in the middle of the emerald. A pulsing green glow seemed to be emitting from her and Roxy looked down, confused. The green stone on her pendant was glowing brightly. As was the dark green square. Fingers trembling, she lifted the gem and placed the end onto the square. The whole length of the gem slid in.

At once, lines of golden light streaked up the doors, expanding onto the castle walls. Seven pairs of eyes watched as the golden lines ran up and along the entirety of the castle, lighting it up. Then the light arced into the sky in brilliant gold that swept over the premises of the castle, chasing away the darkness. It seemed to be restoring the castle grounds to life: fountains began to spurt water, fresh leaves grew on trees, the grass turned green and healthy, the statues had a polished sheen, and water filled the river once more. The wide river formed a circle around the castle. It was as if everything was turning new. Colourful flowers blossomed. Roxy watched all this, mouth agape. To finish it all off, the doors to the castle opened and the golden light shot through, lighting up everything in the castle interior.

For a while, there was stunned silence. Then Mark spoke. "Well, what are we waiting for?"

"You first, my Lady," said Darius, "Welcome home."

Roxy slowly put a foot down onto the polished floor of the castle interior. Then her second foot followed. She walked into the foyer, gazing round in rapturous wonder. Marble pillars reached towards the ceiling, from which diamond chandeliers twinkled. The floor depicted a huge Pentacle. On the wall opposite the entrance was a mural of Morgan Le Fay in all her glory, the Pentacle aglow behind her. Her dark hair streamed out around her from under a gold crown decorated with green gems. Brilliant green eyes glowed from underneath dark lashes, eyes that glowed and hypnotised you. A large green jewel glittered from an intricate gold necklace around her neck. Her black gown fluttered around her. Roxy felt something stir inside her upon seeing her ancestor. She was so powerful, so beautiful, so dangerously enchanting. No wonder she was the most powerful sorceress to have ever lived.

Everything in the castle was magnificence, luxury and magic. Roxy felt like she belonged right here. Like she had finally returned home. For the next couple of hours the seven explored the seven floors of the castle and all the rooms.

Roxy stopped at a locked door. She studied the keyhole and, to her surprise, saw a familiar square-shaped lock. Taking her necklace, she fitted it into the slot and turned. Just as she'd expected, the door opened at her touch. She entered into a spacious bedroom with a floor-to-ceiling window. A queen-sized four-poster bed was covered in satin pillows and silk sheets. Exotic rugs covered the plush carpet. A bookshelf contained rows of books, all carefully categorised. Roxy shivered, feeling a strange sense come over her, as if she knew something about this room. She walked over to study the pictures that were pinned up on the wall.

They seemed to be in chronological order, starting off with a baby girl with brilliant blue eyes. Then it was a toddler with short dark hair, cradled by her parents: the mother blonde and beautiful, the father tall and exceedingly handsome. Roxy felt like she was watching someone grow up as the pictures showed a seven-year-old-girl, then a young tween beaming from ear-to-ear as she held a wand and a cat. She was wearing Slytherin robes. The pictures started to depict somebody else: a dashing young boy with brown hair and clever eyes. Then there was a picture of them in each other's embrace. They looked to be sixteen. A picture of the couple kissing, their hands held lovingly.
