Chapter 34: Burning passion
Warning: smut at the end!!
"Ciara," breathed her father as he entered the castle, his red eyes sweeping round the foyer. He was lost in his memories, reliving everything.
"Hello, Father," Roxy stepped forward, clad in an elegant black gown.
"Roxy, my daughter." Voldemort paused, looking at her as if in a new light. "Seeing you in this very castle... well...never mind. I am glad you brought it back."
"So am I. You have a lot to tell me, Father."
Her father swallowed. "Perhaps. But I'm certain you'll find out a lot by yourself. You'll have the whole Christmas in this place. Did you meet Nerida?"
"Yes, I did," nodded Roxy, "She's been very helpful."
"She never seemed to like me," Voldemort mused aloud. Then he saw Draco and his expression changed.
"Draco, I need to speak with you."
"Of course, my Lord," Draco swallowed. Roxy gave him a comforting look. He crossed over to the Dark Lord, and the two walked away.
"He'll be fine," Roxy said reassuringly to Narcissa, who was watching after her son with a worried look. She glanced at Roxy.
"Yes, if you say so...my Lady." She gave a curtsy, then walked away quickly.
"Roxy! Draco wasn't a bother last night, was he?" Elaine asked.
Roxy's cheeks burned with the memory of last night, but she forced a neutral expression. If only Elaine knew. "No, not at all. He didn't bother me."
"The Dark Lord says you're welcome to stay here," Mark put in as he approached them, "It is, after all, your home."
"Of course I will. I love it here." Roxy frowned. "I thought he would be as overprotective as he always is."
"There are ancient spells, created by Morgan Le Fay herself, that protect the castle. They are built into its very foundations, and run through the castle walls, so nothing could ever break them. Nobody can hurt you here. And if someone should try to attack the castle, it would engage its defenses and believe me, nobody would survive the arsenal of power Morgan Le Fay created herself," explained Mark.
"That's very reassuring," grinned Roxy, "This is why I love her."
She spoke to Bellatrix, who had also arrived, as well as other Death Eaters, but only for a brief amount of time.
Roxy then left them to look round the castle. She wandered aimlessly about. Roxy stopped when she saw a familiar cloaked figure standing on a balcony, looking out over the grounds.
She walked up to him until they were standing side-by-side. There was an awkward pause. They had never really had time alone to speak, just them two. And to be standing in her mother's castle, well, it made things even more awkward. Luckily, it was him who spoke first.
"Being in this castle...it reminds me of Ciara all over again," her father said, "I can almost feel her presence here."
"You miss her," Roxy realised, "You may be cold-hearted and a heartless murderer, but you miss her." She met her father's eyes. "You loved my mother truly, didn't you?"
Voldemort blanched like the words had punched him. "Wh-what?"
"You stuttered," Roxy's eyes widened, "It must've been serious."
"What are you -no! No! Stop that at once, Roxanna!"
"What, did you not love her?"
The Dark Lord took a dangerous step towards her, his red eyes slitting maliciously. "Don't you dare talk about it like that," he hissed, "You know nothing!"
