Chapter 2: Why are you here?

The next morning, Jade woke Roxy up.

"Come on, Roxy. Get up!" Roxy checked the time, then bolted upright.

"Oh my! Already seven?! Breakfast starts in an hour!" She showered, then pulled on her uniform and hitched up her skirt until it rested on her mid-thigh. Roxy put on a pair of black, heeled pumps before braiding her hair into a bun at the top of her head, letting some loose strands frame her face. Then she applied some makeup before selecting her jewellery.

Satisfied with her look, Roxy saw that Jade and the others were also ready, and they all went down to breakfast.

"Oh, there's something that I wanted to ask you about, but I wasn't sure if it was appropriate," began Daphne.

"Ask away!" smiled Roxy. She was in a good mood today.

"Well, it's about Draco. I thought you transferred to Ilvermorny to get away from him. So why have you returned?" Roxy chuckled.

"Don't be silly. I only came back because he's go-" She froze. Her good mood drained away. They had reached the Slytherin table. There, standing before her, was the person she dreaded the most. The one who ruined her life. And the problem was, he looked more handsome than he did back in third year. His blond hair was no longer slicked back, nor did it fall over his forehead, but was now pushed to one side. His smoldering gray eyes were still the same molten silver, and he still wore his sexy signature smirk. It was remarkable how much he'd changed in a year and a half. He was taller, more handsome, better-built, and more mature.

Roxy felt a lump form in her throat. No, no, no. This was not happening. Draco looked just as shocked to see her.

"Rox?" he said softly.

"No, no, no!" She shook her head violently, "You are not permitted to call me that anymore! You vile, repulsive bastard! And why are you here?!" This all had to be a nightmare.

"Of course I'm here!" Draco seemed baffled, "I attend Hogwarts!"

"B -but my parents told me you were transferring to Durmstrang this year! That was why I came back! And you weren't at the feast last night."

"Yes, I was supposed to be transferring there. But there were last minute complications, and Mother was insistent I went to Hogwarts, so I stayed. And last night I was talking to Professor Snape about my prefect duties. He gave me my own feast afterwards, since I had missed it. But it's been so long, Roxy."

"Shut up! You ruined my life! You tore my heart apart!" She glowered, her fury and hatred bubbling up as she remembered what he'd done to her.

"Well, you were to blame, too!" He argued back, and the two glared each other down. Their friends looked at each other. This was going to be a long, and tough, year.

"I'm here now, and there's nothing you can do about it. Now get out of my sight," Roxy finally said, flouncing onto the bench. Her new friends gathered round her. Draco sat down a few seats away, staring blankly into space. Roxy was here. At Hogwarts. His mind was too muddled with different emotions to think straight. Just seeing her again had awoken so many feelings he had forgotten he even had. But she had changed. And he could see why the Sorting Hat had put her in Slytherin this time. He was rudely startled from his thoughts by someone laying in his lap and snogging him.

"Hello, Drakie poo," she squealed. Roxy choked on her pumpkin juice, and he saw her struggling not to laugh. What, no jealousy?

"Hey, Sylmore," Pansy called lazily, "This is my boyfriend Draco." Roxy pursed her lips, amused.

"I really couldn't care less. And I think I know him better than you ever will, Parkinson. Please stop thinking you'll make me jealous, or that you'll break me, by waving my ex in my face. It's pathetic," sneered Roxy coldly, "Do you have no brains? Get a life. Snog him all you like in front of me. As I said, I couldn't care less. Besides, why would one boy matter, and one who had so carelessly broke my heart, when I have plenty of other options?"

"You do not," snapped back Draco. Wow, she really had changed. He didn't know that the heartbreak would've affected her so much. Yes, it was pretty disastrous. And it seemed to have taken quite a big toll on her. Two years ago, she was that innocent, carefree, loving, spirited girl who was sweet and full of life. Now, she was cold, emotionless, sassy and she just wasn't the same girl she used to be.

"Oh, and how would you know that, Malfoy? Not quite gotten over me yet, have you? How pitiful," she smirked.

"You wish," he narrowed his eyes. So they were on a last name basis now?

"We'll see about that," she laughed. Dread rose in Draco's throat as she stood up and went to Adrian Pucey, who was sitting two seats away, swaying her hips as she did so.

"Hello, Adrian right?" she asked in a breathy voice. He blinked.

"Y -yes, hi Roxy." She giggled.

"Glad you remember me. After all of the classes I have today, I'll be terribly bored. Do you have anything planned tonight?" She draped a slim, long leg over his lap and tilted her head to one side. Adrian stared at her.

"No, actually, I haven't."

"Well, I'm always free." She batted her eyelashes seductively.

"Maybe we could schedule
something? Have some fun to relieve you of your boredom?" He was enjoying this now. Draco's hands clenched. Why did she have this effect on him?

"Hmm," she purred, "Yes, that sounds great." Roxy played with his robes and his hand snaked around her waist, trailing downwards.

"That's enough, Pucey," snarled Draco.

"Hey, dude, she's not yours anymore. She can be with whoever she wants," answered Adrian.

"Ooh, it seems like someone's jealous," smirked Roxy. She stood up, brushing her fingers across Adrian's cheek.

"Maybe another time, hmm?" She sashayed back to her seat before eating some breakfast. Draco gritted his teeth. Where did she learn how to seduce someone? He would have to keep a close eye on her. Oh why did she have to come back into his life? But the truth was, he had never let her go, no matter how hard he tried. And the thought of her with someone else angered him.

"Come on, Cass, we have Transfiguration first thing together." She and Cassidy left, but not before Roxy winked at Adrian. Draco's blood boiled.
