Chapter 32: Finding the castle

"I can't believe he's making me go with a bloody entourage," grumbled Roxy, "Like why? Why? I am more than capable of taking care of myself, thank you very much!"

"I think it's just because he doesn't want anything happening to his daughter," Draco answered calmly from the safe proximity of the doorway, watching as she ranted on whilst doing her makeup.

"Pah! Only because my powers are valuable! Let's see if he actually cares about me!" Roxy slammed the lid onto her lipstick, "Besides, I have you with me. Isn't that enough?"

Draco's heart did a strange leap in his chest at those last words. She thought that he was enough. She thought that he was more than enough for her. To protect her. And that made his heart stir up emotions he was unfamiliar with.

"So I suppose you're coming with me?" Roxy arched a perfectly done brow. She surveyed the three that were coming. Mark, Elaine and Narcissa. There would a group of other followers of her father that would be watching over her, hidden and unseen. All ready to defend her should she be in trouble.

"Better than Antonin or Bellatrix," Elaine said wryly, "Let's go then."

"We're Disapparating to Kent. You and Draco will be Side-Along Disapparated with us," explained Mark. Roxy hooked her bag onto her shoulder, then grabbed her foster parents' arms. Narcissa took her son's hand. With three simultaneous cracks, all five disappeared.

Roxy blinked, adjusting to the scenery around her. There was still an unpleasant feeling in the pit of her stomach, but since she had already been Side-Along Disapparated before, it wasn't as bad. She looked around the early morning of Kent. Roxy had never been here before. There was a sound behind her and she turned to see Elaine carefully opening a black box. There seemed to be a few somethings glittering inside the black velvet.

"What's that?" Roxy asked. Elaine merely picked something up delicately between her nails. It was a necklace, a long green gem hanging from a silver snake's head. The silver body of the snake coiled down the gem, hung from a silver chain. The gem fascinated Roxy. It contained many shades of green, all blending into one another and swirling about in a hypnotising glow.

Elaine fastened the necklace round Roxy's neck. The gem was cold against her bare skin.

"Something your father requested we give to you," she explained, stepping back. "It's like an amulet of sorts. There's a lot of secrets surrounding it. I wasn't given the specifics so you should ask your father. Maybe he thought you would like it."

"It's so beautiful," breathed Roxy, the glowing green gem reflected in her blue eyes so that they illuminated like the sea.

"I've booked a hotel for us all," Mark said, "It's just over this hill. I've booked for three days, but I'll renew if you need longer, my Lady."
