I bent over and pulled open a drawer on my filing cabinet. A whistle behind me made me jump.

"You bend over like that for all of your clients?"

I stood with a smile and turned around.

"Hi Meg."

We stepped to each other and Meg pulled me into a tight embrace. My eyes caught Cassidy spare us a glance as she passed by. Her face turned up as if she had eaten something sour. Meg and I unlocked ourselves from each other and I walked over and closed the door.

"So, how are you feeling?" she asked as she plopped down on the couch.

"Much better." I moved and sat beside her.

"And why is it that you didn't call me and ask for help while you were sick?"

"Because you're busy. You have your own life. You can't just drop everything to take care of me or my girls."

"Don't you ever think I wouldn't be there for you when you need it. Or Sean and Drew. You're not alone anymore."

"Yes, Sean reminded me of that."

"Yeah. I know he came over to take care of you. How'd that go?"

"How'd what go? He took care of me, I got better, end of story."

"Ugh. You are such a lost cause."

"Whatever."

"Come in," I say at the knock on the door.

The door opens and Cassidy steps in. She appears shocked.

"Oh, I'm so sorry. I didn't know you were entertaining."

"Cassidy, this is my best friend Meg Marsters. Meg, this is my colleague Cassidy Smithers."

Meg and I both stand. Meg reached her hand out and shook Cassidy's.

"Nice to meet you."

"Same," Meg said. She turned to me. "I have to get back to work. Before I forget, do you have that paperwork for me and the guys?"

"Yes." I walk over to my desk and grab three bound contracts. I flip through them quickly ensuring everything is there and then place them in a folder. I hand the folder to Meg. "Make sure you guys read through the entire thing before signing."

"Of course."

"Call me if we have to make any changes." I walked Meg to the door.

"And you call me if you need anything. And I mean anything."

"Alright. You got it. Bye."

We embrace and before I can stop her Meg places a soft kiss on my lips. She says goodbye to Cassidy and walks out. I take a deep breath and shut the door. I steel myself and place a smile on my lips before I turn.

"Cassidy, did I forget an appointment?" I move over to stand behind my desk.

"No. I, um, how long have you two been friends?"

"I've known Meg my whole life."

"That kiss-"

"Cassidy, let me stop you there. What I do in my personal life is just that, personal and none of your business. I will apologize for the kiss, not because it was between two women and I'm ashamed but because I am at work and it was unprofessional. I haven't read too much into it in two decades and you shouldn't either after two minutes. You said your piece last time and I heard you. I've also looked over my employment agreement and in no way does it say that anyone in this firm has any say in who I sleep with. So if I decided to sleep with the entire Raiders team, it would still remain my business. Now, is there anything work related that I can help you with?"
