Crystalline Skies

"Your grandma had been waiting for us in US. It's been a year since the last time we visit them with your grandpa. I think they'll be happy if we'll celebrate christmas and new year wth them." My dad said to me.

My mom's parents are both in US. They are not Filipinos actually. My grandma and grandpa are Americans, so as my mom is a pure american. My dad and my mom met abroad while my father's parents are in a business trip.

Halos kabisado na namin ang storya nila dahil lagi nalang yon inuungkat tuwing wedding anniversary celebration nila.

"Then what about lolo and lola? Didn't we promise them that we would be celebrating new year with them this year?" Usisa ko.

"Yeah, I remember that too mom. Why sudden change of plans?" Tanong ni Kuya Sean.

"I already promised them that we'll fly to Seattle for Christmas." Saad ni Mommy.

"How about you dad? Did you talk about this with lolo and lola?" Tanong ni Kuya Sean.

"Just let your Mom choose." Malamig na tugon ni Daddy.

"So you and our grandparents isn't in good terms yet." My eldest brother muttered. A sharp look for into my father's eyes as he gave my brother an eye.

"Well I guess that's a yes." Dagdag pa ng kapatid ko na parang wala lang na halos mapaso na ako sa titig ni Daddy kay Kuya.

Is there something we don't know?

My twin seemed to be clueless too.  But my mom, dad and Kuya Sean looks like they understand what's happening.

"Sean, stop it." Awat ng nanay ko.

"If dad sets aside his pride, then we'll be with them. Saka, its his fault too." Matapang na tugon ni Kuya Sean.

"Kuya..." saway ko kay Kuya Sean. Unang beses ko siyang nakitang ganito makitungo sa ama ko. They seemed to be the closest pero bakit parang ang laki ng pagitan nilang dalawa.

"Sean, hindi ko alam ang gusto mong iparating. So stop acting like a little kid." Saad ni Kuya kay Daddy.

Ibinaba ni kuya ang kunyertos na hawak niya at sumandal sa upuan at humalukipkip.

"For godsake, we are having a dinner. Please, just let that talk put aside." Ani Mommy.

"Look who's saying that?..." matapang na tugon ni Kuya Sean.

I held Kuya Sean's arm.

"Kuya, if there are misunderstanding between you and dad. Magusap kayo ng mahinahon mamaya hindi sa harap ng hapag." Bulong ko kay Kuya.

"Sean, I'm not liking what I am seeing on you. So you're trying to disrespect me in front of our family. Sino ka na ba ngayon? Do you know everything? Do you know how hard I work for this family to make you, your mom and siblings happy?" Bakas sa tono ng ama ko ang galit.

"I know everything Dad and I'm tired of how pretentious our family is!" Giit ni Kuya Sean.

"Sean!" Galit na saway ni Mommy.

"Especially you Dad, look how pretentious you are. Do I know how hard you work to make this family happy? Are we even happy?! You are you even happy with what you're doing?!"

"Sean Damien Castillo!" Napatayo na sa kinauupuan ang ama ko sa galit.

"What the fuck did Santillan told you to act like this?!" Bulalas ng ama ko habang dinuduro ang kapatid ko.

"Santillan? They did not do anything here. Ikaw..." my brother walked near my dad.

"You are a sole reason." Giit ng kapatid ko.
