Next Wednesday

You rush out of your apartment door and check your phone. Shit. You're going to be late.

Your last week had been pretty uneventful. You went to work, came home, watched tv or read your book, and went to sleep. You and Spencer had texted a few times, but he's been on a case the past few days so he's been busy. Luckily he got back before Wednesday, but you offered to reschedule in case he needed time off. He insisted that he didn't need to, and said that he was looking forward to seeing you again.

Meanwhile, Cecilia's date with Tristan apparently went super well. They went on another on Monday, and they're going out again this weekend. She seems to really like him, so you're very happy for her.

But enough about that, you need to get to Nippori. Hopefully Spencer doesn't have to wait too long.

You're wearing a red floral dress with small white daisies and a pair of white heels. It's a little cutesy for your taste, but Spencer said to wear something outdoorsy. You thought he meant nature friendly, but he said to have more of a lounging at the park type of look- Whatever that means. You to your car, hoping that your hair and makeup don't look bad. You didn't have a lot of time to focus on them this morning. You slept in too late, which is why you're late.

You get to Nippori at 1:10, running inside. You tell the host that you're expected by a Spencer Reid, but he tells you that nobody named Spencer is dining there. Hmm....weird.

"Y/n!"

You look behind you and see Spencer. He's wearing a shortsleeved purple button up tucked into a pair of slacks and his black converse.

"Hey Spencer!" You say, smiling. You go in for a hug and he wraps his arms around you. You feel safe when you're embraced in his familiar touch. He pulls away and holds up a plastic bag.

"I didn't know what you wanted, so I got a sushi assortment."

"That sounds perfect. I'm so sorry I'm late, I slept in a little too late." You say as you follow him out of the restaurant.

"It's ok."

"Are we eating somewhere else?" You ask. He smiles.

"I wanted it to be a surprise. I thought we could have a picnic at Dumbarton Oaks Park, have you ever been there before?"

You grin from ear to ear. He remembered your love for picnics.

"Yeah, I used to go there and do paperwork when I started working here." You look at his hands to see if he's holding anything else. "Do we have a blanket or anything?" He doesn't answer you. He just looks forward and continues to smile.

You arrive at the park and notice a large blue blanket on the grass. There's a basket with a bottle of wine and two glasses poking out. You gasp when you see it.

"Oh my god Spencer, this is lovely." You say. It is absolutely perfect. It's a sunny day in the beginning of Spring, so it's beautiful outside. You stand over the blanket and marvel at the sight. You glance at Spencer and notice him gazing at you. You lock eyes and smile.

"I meant to tell you, you look illecebrous today." He says.

"Well that's an a million dollar word." You don't even know what it means and it makes your insides flip when you hear him say it.

"It means attractive and enticing."

Enticing? Like as in alluring and tempting?

"Well thank you. You look very handsome as well. And I enjoy learning these new words, so keep them coming."
