You wake up in a hospital bed. You're a little disoriented but you look around the room. You see flowers and food, but to your right you see Spencer sleeping. His hair is messy and he's using his coat as a blanket. His eyes are puffier than usual and his breathing is slow, but he looks peaceful. You smile at him.
You try to reposition yourself but your entire body is sore. You should be be in a lot of pain, but the morphine is probably helping with that. You feel fine otherwise. You continue to look at Spencer until a man walks into the room. It's the same FBI agent who shot your dad.
Oh my god, he shot your dad.
He notices you're awake and starts to walk towards Spencer.
"Don't wake him up." You say. "Something tells me he hasn't slept in a long time."
He steps away and sits in the chair on the other side of you.
"I'm Derek Morgan. I work with Spencer at the BAU, I was just coming here to check on him." He says. You nod and look over at Spencer again. He shifts and scrunches his nose. It makes you smile again.
"You know he's head over heels for you right?" Says Derek. You continues to smile at him.
"Well that makes two of us." You say.
"He's talked about you before. He told us that you call him pretty boy?" He says.
"Yeah, I did once but he told me someone else calls him that." You say. "Wait, is it you?"
"Yep, ever since he joined the bureau." Both of you laugh.
"Which one is the pasta maker?" You ask.
"That's David. He makes a mean spaghetti dish." Says Derek.
"So I've been told."
"Reid tells us you like to cook too."
"Yeah, it's definitely a hobby of mine."
He nods and you look back at Spencer.
"If you don't mind, some of the team wants to come here to check on you and Spencer." Says Derek.
"Of course. Spencer talks about you guys too, you're like his family." You say. You hope seeing his team will put him in a good mood. "Can I ask you a question?"
"Yeah, shoot."
"How was he?" You ask. "During everything. I know he tries to be strong, but he falls apart easily."
Derek looks at Spencer.
"I'm not gonna sugar coat it, he was terrible." He says. "He spent every waking second looking for you. I've only seen him cry as hard as he did when you flatlined once before."
"Really? When?" You ask.
"Five years ago Reid had a girlfriend named Maeve. She was being stalked so they never actually saw each other until she was kidnapped. We found out who did it, but in the end the unsub killed herself and Maeve. He never even got to touch her."
You can't believe it. Spencer never told you about this. What else has he been through that you don't know about?
"My dad told me he went to prison for three months on drug possession and murder in Mexico. Is that true?" You ask.
"Yes, but he was being framed. The only reason he was in Mexico was to get some medicine for his mom."
You smile. "Of course he was." That's just Spencer. He would fly to the moon and back for those he loved. You look up and see a few people walk in. There's a skinnier woman with blonde hair, another blonde with colorful clothes, and a tall man with dark hair and an intimidating face.
