Dinner

A few hours later you start getting ready. It's 6:30 and you have to be at David's at 7:00. You're wearing a knee length deep blue dress that's not too fancy, but not too casual. You choose a pair of open toed dark gray heels and some silver jewelry. You keep your hair natural and put on a tiny bit of makeup. As you head out the door you text Spencer that you're on your way. You guys decided he would go straight to Rossi's after work and you would just meet him there. He sent you the address, which you are now putting into the gps on your phone.

You put your phone down and start driving. You connect your phone to your car's bluetooth and play "Good Days". It's not as good of an experience compared to when you were wearing ear buds, but the song is still really good. You hum along with the words and sing to the few parts you know. After listening to it over and over again a few times you finally arrive at David's house. It's huge. Spencer mentioned he was an author, but not that he is rich. You can't wait to meet him.

You get out of your car and walk towards the front door. You give a knock and wait. Nobody answers. So you knock again, but nobody seems to hear it. You pull out your phone and call Spencer.

"Hey, are you close?" He asks as soon as the ringing stops.

"I'm actually here. Can you hear me knocking on the door?" You ask.

"We're all out back. I'll come and open the door."

He hangs up and you put your phone in your purse. You wait there until a shadow appears over the glass on the door. It opens and you see Spencer wearing one of his nicer sweater vests and his hair looks nice. He gives you a hug and smiles when he sees you.

"Hi." He says. You begin to feel your feet dangle off of the ground.

"Hi." You say back. He sets you down and looks over your body.

"You look beautiful." He says.

"Thank you. You look nice too." You say.

"Thanks." He says. He steps to the side and extends his arm. "Come in, we're just hanging out in the backyard but I think Rossi is going to start cooking soon."

"Rossi?" You say as you walk in. He grabs your waist as he leads you to the back of the house.

"Yeah, we call each other by last names. It's an agent thing I guess."

You smile and admire David's house. It's really nice. You notice a large wine collection in the kitchen and ingredients for some type of pasta on the countertops. Spencer opens the sliding door to the back and you see the whole team sitting on the patio. They all look up, and everybody smiles when they see you. Except for JJ.

"Pretty girl!" Yells Derek. He gets up from his seat next to Penelope and you walk over to hug him. You smile as you do and give him a tight squeeze. When you separate he looks down your dress.

"Damn girl, you really are all that and a bag of chips."

You smile and Spencer comes up behind you and grabs your waist again. You think it's cute that he's so protective. Penelope then gets up and walks towards you.

"Hey, who said you could look that good and try to steal my chocolate thunder?" She says. You smile and give her a hug.

"Hi Penelope." You say as you savor her warmth and joy.

"Don't worry, Garcia. You'll always be my babygirl." Says Derek as he pulls her in closer. Penelope smiles and then tugs pulls him back to their seats.

"Finally, I get to meet the girl who stole boy genius's heart." Says a voice beside you. You turn and see a man with grayish white hair and a smile.

"That's me." You say. "You must be the famous David Rossi."

"The one and only." He says. You expect him to shake your hand but before you know it he's giving you a hug. You give him one back and take in the smell of scotch and herbs.

"And I'm Krystall, David's wife. It's nice to meet you." Says the woman standing behind David. She looks really nice and she shakes your hand.

"Spencer tells me you like to cook? Pasta especially?" Asks David.

"Yes, I love to cook. He tells me you're quite the expert too." You say.

"I've been known to make people drool." He says. It makes you laugh.

"What are you making tonight?" You ask.

"Penne Alla Vodka." He says. Your face lights up at the words, and he notices.

"Are you familiar with the dish?" He asks.

"Yes, it's one of my favorite pastas to make." You say. He nods like he's impressed.

"Well maybe I could get some help from you in the kitchen."

"I would love too." You say smiling again. He smiles too and turns back to Krystall. You turn to look for Spencer who is talking to Hotch. You walk over and wave to Hotch.

"Dr. y/l/n, how are you?" He asks.

"Please, call me y/n. I'm doing really good how about you?" You ask.

"I'm doing well too. How is your recovery going?" He asks.

"I feel a lot better now. Spencer has been quite the caretaker." You say.

"In more ways than one I hope." Says Emily who is walking up behind you with a glass of wine. She's a little tipsy, but you smile at her remark. You grab Spencer's tie and tug on it a little bit.

"Trust me, he definitely is." You say. Spencer blushes a little bit and gives a small smile.

"Oh, does pretty boy have game?" Says Derek. Behind him you notice JJ talking to Penelope. She makes small and quick glances as everyone speaks to you.

"He knows how to make a girl happy." You say. Spencer squeezes your hand. You look up and he gives you a playful stare. He obviously doesn't talk about this stuff with his co-workers, so you decide to stop talking about it.

"I would like to see that in action." Says Emily. You're not surprised that his team doesn't know much about his romantic life.

"Why is everyone so interested in how I treat my girlfriend?" Asks Spencer. The question catches JJ's attention.

"Reid, this is the first girlfriend you've had in like six years and you moved in with her a month after meeting her. You're obviously doing something right." Says Derek. The statement seems to have surprised JJ. Does she not know that you're living together? You decide to ignore it and continue speaking.

"Hey, what about me?" You ask. "Who said I'm not the one with game?"

Everyone laughs and you give a smile.

"I'm sure you did do something to make pretty boy's face light up every time he says your name." Says Derek. You look up at Spencer and notice him smiling down at you. You guys are holding hands and he has a cup of water in his other. You give him the same loving look he gives you. You continue to talk to his team, and you understand why Spencer sees them as his family. This group of people makes you feel safe and loved.

Maybe that's where Spencer gets it from.
