The Apology

The rest of the night goes by in a flash. You've had so much fun you didn't even realize that it's nearing midnight. Emily and Penelope are drunk off their asses singing an Amy Winehouse song while Derek and JJ laugh clumsily as they watch. Hotch and Spencer are standing by the patio table talking, and you're talking to David and Krystall.

"That sauce was stupendous, y/n." Says Krystall. She's holding on David's shoulder. "Where did you learn to cook like that?"

"Thank you." You say smiling. "I got a lot of recipes from my grandma and my mom, but once I got my doctorate I kinda just taught myself my way around a kitchen."

"Is your family Italian?" Asks David.

"I'm not sure, but my grandma actually grew up in New Mexico." You say.

"So do you have a fondness for spicier foods?" Asks Krystall.

"Yes, I love it." You say. "I've always had a higher tolerance for it."

"Is that so?" Asks David. You nod. "Well I have a spicy shrimp Fra Diavolo recipe that might just knock your socks off."

"I would love to try it." You say.

"You're welcome anytime." Says Krystall. David nods and you give a thankful nod.

"Thank you guys so much." You say. "You've made me feel so welcomed."

"If Spencer loves you, we do too." Says David. "And I've grown a liking to you, cara."

You smile as Spencer appears behind you. He grabs your hand and you grin at him.

"Hey lover boy." You say.

"Hey gorgeous." He says. He gives you a small kiss and you notice David and Krystall smiling at you.

"I'm just enjoying my conversation with the wonderful Rossi's." You say. "David is going to cook me a spicy shrimp dish sometime soon."

"That sounds fun." Says Spencer.

"Who said you were invited?" Says David. You all laugh and you look behind you. You notice Derek helping JJ to her feet- she's pretty drunk.

"Hey, I'm actually pretty tired. I think I'm ready to go home." You say to Spencer. He nods and you look back to David and Krystall.

"Thank you two so much. Dinner was so good, and your house is lovely." You say. They both smile.

"Of course. You're welcome anytime." Says Krystall.

"We mean it." Says David. "It's nice having someone to cook with who knows what they're doing."

"It's an honor to cook with an expert." You say. You give them both hug and Spencer does the same. You say goodbye to Penelope and Hotch, and give Derek a wave as he carries JJ to his car. You get to your car and realize you left your keys in the house.

"Shit, I forgot my keys in the house." You say. You start to walk back to the house but Spencer goes in front of you.

"It's ok, I'll go get them." He says. You smile and let him go inside. You pull out your phone and check the time- it's 12:00.

"Hey, 'gorgeous'." Says a voice behind you. You turn and see drunk JJ standing there. You give a sigh and face her.

"Look, I didn't come here to mock you or Spence or whatever." She says. She trips on her feet and speaks groggily, but you can tell she's trying to focus.

"I just want to say..." She pauses for a second. She looks like she's going to throw up. "I'm not sorry for what I was feeling. But I am sorry I asked you about it without any ediven- eniven-" She says. You know she's trying to say the word evidence, but it's more fun to watch her struggle. Eventually she gets it.

"Evidence. I'm sorry I came to you thinking I knew the whole picture." She says. For someone who's completely wasted she's doing really well at organizing her thoughts. You know she said she's not sorry for her feelings, but can you blame her? At least she knows confronting you without a better sense of things was wrong.

"Apology accepted JJ." You say. "Now go home, you obviously need some water and greasy foods."

She gives a crooked smile and turns around. She trips over her feet as she spins back towards you.

"Oh, and can we keep this between us? Our little secret, apart from Spencer?" She says. You look down. It feels wrong keeping things from him. Things have been really weird between him and JJ lately too, so the fact that she wants to kept it between you two makes you even more curious about what's going on. But you don't want to be the bad guy who can't show forgiveness so you decide to let what happened at the hospital go.

"Sure." You say. She smiles and turns around again. You watch her as she messily walks back around the corner to Derek's car making sure she doesn't injure herself. Once she disappears from your view you turn back to your car. As soon as you do it beeps and the lights flash.

"I found the keys, finally." Says Spencer who's walking up behind you. "You know it would've helped if you told me where they were."

He walks up to you and grabs your waist. You look down and don't respond right away.

"Hey, is everything ok?" He asks. You look up at him and fake a smile. You want to be happy with him right now, but you can't stop thinking about all of the weird secrets and drama. For now you decide to brush it under the rug.

"Yeah, I'm fine." You say as you wrap your arms around his neck and kiss him. He kisses you back, and you two stay there until bright lights suddenly shine on you. It's Derek and JJ in the car, and you hear Derek cheering from the inside.

"Get it pretty boy!" He yells. He's pumping his fist out of the window and JJ is looking at Spencer. They're giving each other weird looks again. What the fuck is going on?

You separate from Spencer as Derek drives away and get into the drivers seat of your car.

"I can drive if you-"

"No that's ok." You say. You buckle your seatbelt and avoid eye contact. He just looks at you and sits down in the passengers. The drive is a little awkward. You don't want it to be, but you can't help it. All you can think about is how weird everything has been with JJ. Does Spencer know that you're keeping things from him, or that you know that he's been keeping secrets? You take occasional glances at him and see him looking out the window. You get out of the car quickly as you park. You practically rush into the building and up to your apartment.

"Y/n, are you sure you're ok?" He asks when you get to your door. You swing it open and step inside. He does too and you shut the door.

"What's going on with you and JJ?"

Im honestly running out of ideas for authors notes sooo who's everyone's fave cm character besides Reid and why? Mine is Emily or Hotch... but probably Emily.
