I was back there. Back at the dark and lonely place. I slowly went out of the house to see dark plants everywhere.
"No! Please! I'm sorry! I'll work harder!" I saw a girl across the street, who was tied in rope. I squinted, and the harasser looked like Mrs. Luafer. I shivered. I felt like everything was ruined, falling apart-
"She's awake! Go get the doctor, Janice!" I opened my eyes to see my mom holding my hand. I felt tears pricking at my eyes. This was the most affectionate she had been towards me ever since the incident. "Are you okay, Megan?" I didn't say anything. I couldn't.
After getting treated, I was allowed to go out for fresh air. But I saw something I never expected to see. It was Ella. She was talking to a doctor, and I knew it wasn't right, but I had to go and see what it was all about.
"Ella, your sister isn't getting better. She may need surgery soon." I gasped from behind the wall. Ella had a sick sister? But that wasn't the most surprising thing. I soon saw FeiFei walking up to Ella.
"El, you okay?" FeiFei hugged her as Ella cried. FeiFei was so different. It was like it wasn't really her. Maybe it isn't. I kept telling myself. But if they knew each other, why did they act like they didn't at school? Minds flooding with questions, I returned to my room.
When we arrived at home, I went straight upstairs and got a piece of paper out. Right when I was about to start brainstorming, I realized that I had French homework. Groaning, I took the first packet out. At the top of the page it wrote, Please translate the following sentence back to English. After all, my French teacher believed that cursive made everything better than it was. Question one, Mon stylo est sur la table. Pen was stylo. So since 'Mon' was my, I think it was "My pen is on the table". Ugh. I suck at French. Moving on. Question two, Je veux être chanteuse quand je serai grande. Great. A long sentence. Just what I needed. Janice had taken French 4 last year, so I walked up to her room to ask her. But as I was about to knock, I heard her talking on the phone.
"Yeah, right. I can definitely tell Megan a lie straight to her face. You think I can do that?" I froze in my position. What lie? Janice was hiding something? After a few minutes, Janice spoke into the phone again. "Don't contact me again. I don't want Megan to live knowing that you actually did something bad." I stepped back from the door. After the conversation, I didn't think it was the best time to go in and ask her. So I walked back to my room. But I felt like I couldn't even lift a pencil all of a sudden. I felt like a....freak. Maybe the kids at my school were right. Maybe...
