The next morning, I woke up to an empty house. Before leaving for school, someone ringed the doorbell. I answered it. Outside stood a man. Actually, I think it was a boy. A teenage boy. I frowned. I didn't know this guy.

"Hello. Does Janice Gallagher live in this house?" My eyes widened. Why were they looking for Janice? I panicked.

"N-no...." I quickly said and tried to shut the door. He shoved it open and glared at me. I was so terrified.

"If she's here, you better tell her that I need to speak with her." He nearly growled at me.

"How can I tell her when I don't know your name?" I cheekily said, taking all the risks that were needed. He narrowed his eyes.

"Then tell her that Mark is here for her." I raised my eyebrows, but obliged and went in for a second to call my sister. She picked up on the third ring.

"Do you need anything, Meg?" My sister asked. I hesitated. "Megan? Are you there?" I took in a breath.

"Someone that goes by the name Mark is outside." My voice trembled. It was quiet on the other side.

"Megan, tell him to meet me at a cafe. The cafe down the street. Tell him I'll be there." There was urgency in her voice. If he was dangerous, I didn't want Janice to meet him. She must have thought that I felt that way, because she said, "Megan, do as I say." Shaking, I opened the door again. This person named Mark was standing outside with his arms crossed.

"She told me to tell you to meet her at the cafe down the street." He raised his eyebrow at me. I looked up at him and tilted my head.

"If that's not true, I will be coming over here again. And by then, I won't knock on the door so nicely." He smirked and walked down the driveway. I scoffed. Jerk.

Shutting the door, and ran up to my room to get ready. "Darn it. I'm already late." Running out of the house, I arrived at the bus station and hopped on.

Arriving at the school, I saw FeiFei waiting outside the school. I rolled my eyes. Why wasn't she in class? As soon as she saw me, she rushed over. "You're Megan, right?" I shook her hand off.

"What do you mean? Aren't you FeiFei?" She laughed and smiled at me.

"No. I'm FeiFei's cousin, Maiya. Is FeiFei here?" I smiled at her.

"I'll help you find her." I led her into the school as the bell rang. Darn. I had lost two hours of school time. I stood in front of FeiFei's classroom as FeiFei came out.

"FeiFei!" The girl named Maiya ran to her and hugged her. FeiFei laughed gently and patted her head. But she stood stiff once she saw me. She glared at me. "She helped me find you." Maiya pointed at me.

"Oh, did she? Did the psycho's sister help you?" FeiFei tilted her head as Maiya gasped. Oh no. She did not do that.

"You're the psycho's sister?" Maiya pointed to me. I felt myself heat up as I saw FeiFei smirking. Witch, I thought.

"And you're the bully's cousin. I wonder what's worse." I pointed it out to them. Maiya's jaw hardened.

"My cousin isn't a bully, you freak." I scoffed. Who was this girl to be saying this to me? She looked a couple years younger than me.

"And I'm not a psycho, you witch." That was it. FeiFei came up to me and slapped me. We were officially the school news, because many people were surrounding us and taking a video. I could not believe this.

"Don't call her a witch. She did nothing wrong. But she's right. You are a freak. And you always will be." FeiFei led her cousin away, but they didn't get far before I yelled out something too.

"At least I have a heart." And then I turned the other way and walked out of the school. I didn't want to be here.

After leaving the school, I went to a park nearby my house and just sat under a tree. I was so upset. I didn't want to be called the psycho's sister or a freak. I wanted others to know that my brother wasn't like that. I wanted them to know that he was caring and he loved me. And that was all that mattered. I sobbed into my hands, hoping that no one would hear me. After some minutes of crying, someone tapped me on the shoulder.

"Thought we'd find you here." It was the four I had made friends with. I leaned against Arianna. The rest took seats around us.

"Are you alright?" Daniel asked and hugged me. He gave me warmth, and that was exactly what I needed at that moment. My heart started beating quickly. Just in case Daniel felt something, I moved away from him.

"I'm going to fail that biology quiz tomorrow." Arianna started to wail next to me. I smiled inside. Even if I was crying, sad, or lonely, my friends helped me feel normal.

"You'll do fine, Anna." Theo patted her on the back.

"No I won't. I feel like I studied, but I don't know!" Arianna's face twisted as she put her face in between her hands.

"You'll do fine." Theo hugged Arianna as Josie glared at him. "I'm just hugging Ari, Josie! God, so overprotective." I wiggled a finger at them. Josie hugged Theo from behind.

"Yes, we're a thing, Megan." As soon as she said that, I smiled. They were just so cute together. I knew they would make a great couple from the moment I saw them. I was so lucky to have them in my life.

Looking out at the lake in front of us, I asked them, "Shouldn't you guys be in class?" Daniel shrugged.

"Can't let a friend run away crying, right?" He was so sweet with his words. I sniffled, letting out the last of my tears. I looked up at him.

"Guess now." Next to us, Arianna, Theo, and Josie coughed. We looked at them, and they were smirking at us.

"What?" Daniel asked them. They shook their heads and proceeded to make conversation, but they would peek a look over at us from time to time. Daniel smirked. "Weirdos. Anyways, anybody want to go to that new skating rink on Saturday? It'll be fun." Josie groaned.

"Yeah, it's so fun falling on your butt. So fun." Josie said sarcastically. Arianna laughed.

"You've been skating for so long, Josie. We all know that you don't fall on your butt." Arianna pointed out. Arianna then looked over at me. "Have you ever skated, Megan?" I nodded. It was a couple years ago, when William was still here. And when he was still okay.

For the rest of the afternoon, we sat at the park looking over the view and talking about random things. It felt so good. Good to have new friends. And it felt great to be normal, and fitting in again.
