English was over, and nobody was left in the classroom except for me. Packing my stuff up, I decided to just sit in the lunchroom today because I was tired of everyone making fun of me in classes. It'll be okay, I kept telling myself.

Once I was in the lunchroom, I didn't know where to go. The lunchroom was divided. The geeks, the popular, the nerds, the gamers. But none of them were my cup of tea. Quietly sitting down at an empty table, I took out my book and started to read. A few minutes later, I felt a shadow over me, so I looked up to see an unfamiliar face staring right at me.

"Hi? Did you need something?" I asked with a blank expression. This could just be a prank from FeiFei, and I was too tired to be part of her silly little jokes now.

"Hey. I'm new here. I was wondering if I could sit with you." The girl had a smile on her face. Wow. FeiFei must have trained her well. I rolled my eyes, and when I looked back at her, her face was full of hurt.

"Why are you looking at me like that? Didn't FeiFei send you?" I looked back down at my book, because I didn't expect a reply. But this time, unlike others, I did get one.

"Who's FeiFei? And why would she send me when I don't even know anybody?" The girl looked so confused, I pitied her. But I couldn't help but think that she really was new. But before I could say anything, FeiFei strolled right over.

"Hi there! I'm FeiFei. Do you want to sit with me for lunch? You don't want to sit with Megan." FeiFei talked to the girl as if I was just a ghost that nobody liked. But the second part was true. I was an outcast at school. Nobody liked me. Maybe it was because of my family's incident. I knew that was still going around school. Every now and then, I would hear people talking about it. The girl looked nervously between FeiFei and me.

"Um, okay?" Right. Of course she wouldn't choose me. Me, a girl sitting all alone by herself in the middle of the cafeteria in the middle of the school year. As they walked away, I saw the girl stealing glances at me. I could see FeiFei noticing it, and getting annoyed. I knew every move from every person was a hit against me. I quickly turned my head to the other side. RING! RING! The bell rang, and everyone started to disperse for their classes. Fleeing from the crowd, I went to my locker and started to take out my biology books. As I shut my locker, I saw the girl again. Staring straight at me. I rolled my eyes once again. Didn't this girl take a hint that I didn't want her attention? I started to turn away, but she grabbed my hand.

"Hey. What class do you have next? I have biology with Mr. Teo and maybe if you have him, we can walk together?" She talked super quickly. I looked at her up and down, and nodded. She smiled brightly and started to follow me. "I'm Ella, by the way." I half smiled at her.

"I'm Megan." I replied with a short answer and proceeded in walking to class. She skipped next to me. She had a vast difference of personality from me. She looked like she could be friends with everyone in the whole grade in less than a week. Entering the class, I took the first seat by the window. Ella sat down next to me. She took out a notebook with clean lettering that wrote, Honors Biology. She had good handwriting.

"So, how is the teacher? Is he nice? Is he strict?" She bombarded me with questions. It was very overwhelming, because I haven't had so much attention in a couple of years. Instead of answering, I took out my own supplies as Mr. Teo entered the room.

"Good afternoon, class!" Mr. Teo was a very old-fashioned man. He expected the class president to cue the class to stand and bow to him for greetings. Like I said, old-fashioned. Fortunately, I was not the class president.

"Stand." Everyone rose and bowed to the teacher. Ella looked very confused, but she followed on what everyone did.

"Thank you. Now, today we will be going over Chapter 5. Could anyone tell me what Glycolysis does in Cellular Respiration?" He questioned the class. The class was silent, until someone finally raised their hands. "Thank you! Ella, what does it do?" He smiled brightly at her.

"Well, Glycolysis is anaerobic respiration. It breaks down glucose to pyruvates, which keeps breaking down until there are two ATPs." With the full explanation, the class is silent once again and Mr. Teo seemed surprised.

"Why, thank you, Ella. That was the best explanation from the class. Class, why does Glycolysis only produce 2 ATPs? Ella, please popcorn somebody." Ella looked around the classroom until her eyes made contact with mine.

"I pick Megan." Oh great! She had to pull me in this.

"Megan? Are you ready?" Mr. Teo looked at me, and I drew in a breath. You can do this, Megan. I repeated in my head.

"Yes. There are only two ATPs at the end because two ATPs are used to start the process. That's why the net gain is only 2 ATPs." I replied, and I saw people whispering again. Here we go again, I thought.

"You did great!" Ella congratulated me. Suddenly, I felt good about myself. Maybe it was because someone actually motivated me. Sighing, I told myself once again. It isn't going to last. But I hoped that it would.
