"Relax Zayden, I'll protect Loriatte."

Zayden side eyed Doug, clearly unconvinced, "uh no thanks," he then turned to Loriatte, who was carelessly spinning around in Zayden's leather office chair, "just wait for two more hours, I'll take you myself as soon as I'm done here," he told her.

Loriatte stopped and looked up at Zayden who sat on top of the spacious office table, the surface a smooth, dark wood with a glassy finish that Loriatte could almost see her reflection in.

After they left his penthouse, they didn't even make it out of the lobby before realising that they were about to leave in their comfy house clothes, so they had to rush back upstairs and quickly change so they wouldn't show up to Zayden's work place in slacks and jogging shorts.

Zayden was sat in front of her on the table with his arms crossed, the long sleeves of his black Oxford button-down shirt were rolled up to his forearms, a brown leather belt secured the pale blue Levi's jeans he wore, and on his feet were some very clean white sneakers.

He looked really good, Loriatte just had to admit it to herself. She looked up at him with furrowed eyebrows, trying to ignore the desire growing at the pit of her stomach.

Zayden must've felt the tension as well because his eyes hooded over, giving her a look of pure want, his tongue darting out to lick his bottom lip. With the look he was giving her, if Doug wasn't in the room with them Loriatte would have jumped his bones right then and there.

She cleared her throat, casting the dirty thoughts swirling around in her head away.

Loriatte patted her hair which was in a damage control high puff she managed to quickly put together in Zayden's car on their way to the precinct, proud of her work because it was a miracle how she managed to fix the absolute train wreck Zayden did on her hair- with a single comb and the little rear view mirror.

"I'm not waiting here for two hours Zay, the ice cream truck would've left by then," she said with a pout. "Don't worry, I'll be safe with Doug."

Zayden turned his head to look at Doug who stood with his back leaning against the mahogany door of Zayden's office.

Doug wiggled his fingers with a grin, and blew him a kiss.

The detective turned back to her with a heavy sigh, "you know what? My work can wait, I'll take you." He stood up and grabbed his car keys from the table.

"Eh? I thought it's like, very important paper work that needs to be done A.S.A.P?" She looked up at him with her eyes furrowed in confusion.

"It can wait," he held out a hand for her and after she grabbed it, gently pulled her up to her feet.

"Well I'm still coming with, Maya's Ice cream truck only comes around this part of the city once a week, and I'm not missing it for the sake of letting you lovebirds be," Doug shrugged, amusement in his eyes which briefly glanced down at Loriatte and Zayden's intertwined hands. "And I'm riding with you."

Loriatte let go of Zayden's hand and walked around the table, standing in front of Doug with crossed arms.

Zayden looked down at his empty sad hand and frowned.

"Fine, but it's my turn to be the passenger princess, you had your turn the last time you rode with us."

"Nuh-uh, you have your turn every time I don't ride with you," Doug pointed out, and even though he had a point, Loriatte refused to back down.
