Osamu had caught Atsumu in Sakusa's room, and as punishment, Osamu had forced Atsumu into the Hospital's rooftop garden. Atsumu is now staring at the scenery, shivering underneathe the thick blanket over his shoulders. The thin Hospital gown did very little in shielding him from the cold.
Buildings shoot up towards the sky. Looking down, cars drive past and people's heads walk back and forth on the pavements.
Atsumu lets out a shaky breath as he turns back towards the garden.
There are patients walking around, some with their visitors walking with them and talking.
Atsumu pushes himself underneathe a balding tree. Looking down at his hands, he finds his hands coloured in mixtures of gold and red. He looks up to the swaying red leaves, shaking as they hang onto their branches, refusing to let go and fall to the ground.
Just like Sakusa.
Atsumu inhales sharply before pushing the thought of Sakusa clinging onto his life. The surgeon had said Sakusa was in a coma, and it would take days for him to wake up. And when he does, the pain would be unbearable.
Sighing, Atsumu takes his phone out and looks down at the screen. Bokuto and Hinata had sent messages, saying that they hope he and Sakusa are alright and that they would try to spare time to visit them in the Hospital.
He clears the notifications on his phone, and the wallpaper of the smiling Sakusa reappears.
Atsumu smiles sadly.
"You'll wake up," Atsumu whispers. "I know you will. You always do. Just imagine it's another nightmare."
A nightmare Atsumu couldn't wait to wake up from. A nightmare Atsumu wanted to banish, and to wake up safe in Sakusa's arms.
But no.
It's isn't a nightmare.
It's reality; it's whatever life throws at them. In this case, life threw a car at Sakusa and Atsumu.
A leaf falls onto Atsumu's lap, and he stares at it. He picks it up, examining the leaf. Nothing interesting, really. But it's yellow and slightly shrivelled, reminding Atsumu of the tag he and Sakusa hung and which Atsumu had later proceeded to destory.
Atsumu had dumped the crushed tag onto the grass, before leaving it there.
Just like the tag he had crushed, the leaf that fell was kind of crumpled.
Atsumu's heart starts to race. What did this mean? A yellow leaf, looking similar to the tag they hung on the Love Tree, falling down. Does this mean something? That... their love wasn't going to work out?
Atsumu shakes his head.
He's overthinking.
Sakusa went through the surgery. He's breathing.
Through a tube.
But he's breathing. That's a good thing.
"Tsumu."
Atsumu startles, dropping the leaf and looking up at his twin. Osamu eyes him weirdly. "You like leaves?" he asks. "No. I don't," Atsumu replies, rolling his eyes. "What do you want?"
"He's awake."
