A/N: New Year, New Update!
3rd Person P.O.V.
Klaus Mikaelson was never accustomed to emotions. His father had taught him that a man that feels is a man that is weak so he built a wall to block everyone that wasn't his family out as the years of vampirism continued. The one exception was Jessica Gilbert. Even during his time with Vivianne, he kept a part of himself blocked off, but Jessica seemed to read him like an open book. He physically couldn't hide anything from her and that was before she gained the ability to read people's minds.
After he met Jessica, she slowly broke down his walls with other people as well. If Klaus had met Damon Salvatore before he met Jessica, he would've killed him in a heartbeat. Even after he knew Jessica, he craved his death because he got in the way of Klaus getting Jessica. However, with time, he not only accepted their relationship, but had ended up befriending the man. Never in his long life would Klaus Mikaelson have thought that he would be friends with someone that was his competition, but then again, he never thought his father would ever love him. That was simply the power Jessica holds.
Now, he couldn't even imagine his life without Damon in it, which is why he was so confused when woke up not in the compound. He immediately frowned and took in his surroundings. The walls were a light blue color and the comforter was stark white. Next, he registered the person radiating heat next to him. He looked down and there she was. Jessica was sleeping in his arms. He smiles for a second before remembering that this wasn't right. Jessica had been transported to her meeting with the council and he had fallen asleep alone after putting the twins to bed.
But this could be your reality, he thought, another thing that confused him. You could have her to yourself. If she had never met Damon, you would've fallen in love in Europe and she never would've gone home. It would just be the two of you. At this point, Klaus is just confuzzled. Jessica had met Damon before he met Jessica in Europe so why was he thinking that. It isn't until Jessica awakes that it hits him.
"Hey, Babe," she says, leaning over to kiss him.
"Love, where's Damon? Where are we?"
She frowns. "Who's Damon and we're in Rome, remember? You told me that we simply had to go because sex in the colosseum is legendary. Ringing any bells?" It was, but it had never happened. He had thought it, but he never shared those thoughts with Jessica out of fear that she would reject him and he would lose her. But he would've, if she hadn't been in love with Damon.
That's when it hit him, this was a different world. One where Jessica and Damon hadn't met. One where Jessica was purely his. All of his character development told him that he needed to find a way out, but as soon as Jessica looked at him with so much love, the amount of love she had looked at him with before she caught him with Hayley. The love that was just for him, the love he didn't have to share, all good and rational thought was thrown out the window and he just smiled.
"Right, sorry. I just had a bit of an odd dream about an old friend."
"Was this old friend cute?" She jokes and Klaus chuckles.
"Not particularly. Not exactly your type. He was dating Rebekah in the 20s and he had a brother named Damon. Told me we would get along well is all," he lies and Jessica seems to contemplate it.
"Why did you think Damon would be here? Did you ever meet him?"
"No," he continues to lie. "But in my dream, you showed up and told me that I'd get along well with anyone if I stopped threatening their lives."
"Ooh. Dream me sounds very wise," she chuckles and he grins at him before kissing her deeply. "What was that for?"
"Can't I just kiss my gorgeous girlfriend?"
