Chapter 34- Poisoning the Labyrinth

In case you skipped the last chapter, Jessica arrived at the Salvatore Boarding School in yet another universe, the real one from the television series. The Salvatore School is hosting the annual Miss Mystic Pageant that year Lizzie makes Jessica and Hope enter. Jessica doesn't find an escort and falls down the last few steps purposely only to fall into the arms of Damon Salvatore. Being that Hope's escort abandoned her, Klaus takes his place revealing that neither one listened to Jessica about staying out of the Labyrinth. After the winners are announced, Ric arrives not a happy camper.

Jessica's P.O.V.

I had known Ric for several years now. After meeting him during my repeat of Junior year, we always remained close even though he recently decided to move back to Mystic Falls. Despite the lengthy amount of time we had known each other, I never saw the look I saw on his face as he faced us after everyone left after Miss Mystic Falls. He had called Lizzie, Josie, Hope, Damon, Klaus, Landon, and me into his office.

Landon was confused as to why he was there. Hope was confused about why her dad was there. The twins were confused why their Uncle Damon was there. Ric seemed like he was battling himself on whether he should be angry or confused so he had a very...amusing look on his face that made Jessica laugh, leading to Ric choosing anger over confusion.

"What the hell is going on here?" He demands and Landon frowns.

"Why am I here? Who are they?"

"I'm also confused why the muppet is here. Also why you called us in here. I think Miss Mystic Falls went well. Josie won," I tell him with a smile as Ric turns to Klaus.

"You're dead. The last time we had someone dead come back it was because the necromancer was here and we just got rid of a gorgon, I don't think we can deal with the necromancer again."

I frown. "Two questions. One, who is the necromancer, and did he choose that name because if so, why? Two, you guys had someone come back from the dead? Who?"

"Our mom," Josie answers sadly.

"Caroline's dead?" Damon and Klaus blurt out and Jessica rolls her eyes.

"She means Jo, dumbasses. In this world, Kai didn't have anyone to make him less psychotic so he went wacko and killed Jo to try and kill the twins."

"Man, everyone is dead here," Damon states as Klaus nods.

"What do you mean in this world?" Ric asks and I sigh, taking a seat.

"You know what a labyrinth is, don't you, Ric?" He nods as Landon frowns.

"I don't."

"Well, I don't really know why you're here so you can go. Now," I compel him and he nods his head before leaving.

"What did you do to him?" Hope demands and I shrug.

"I compelled him. Relax, Hope. Back to the story, Klaus and I pissed off this counsel that wanted me to kill him. I couldn't kill someone I love so I refused. My punishment was that the three of us got locked in this labyrinth. It's like Daedalus' from Greek Mythology except that each of these rooms is a different reality. The one that we started in was one designed to make us stay. The only way we know to get out is to remember who we were on our own. They succeeded, I didn't."

"So what happened?" Lizzie wonders.

"They reentered the maze to get me. They didn't know that it would stop us from escaping. I could send them out but because they helped me remember, I got sent here and these two came back in."

"We actually have a good reason," Damon points out, taking a piece of paper from inside his tux and handing it to me. "When you shot us out, we went a little too far into the future."
