Chapter 18- Revenge is Best Served With Pain

3rd Person P.O.V.

It had been two weeks since Jessica had given birth to her twins and fallen into a coma. In that time, unknown to the Originals, the ancestors had forced Vincent to assist Lucien in his effort to become something that will allow him to destroy the Originals as Marcel, Davina, Josh, and Aiden have been working their asses off to retrieve the bullet they believe to be white oak for Marcel and Davina to make up for their betrayals of Jessica, Rebekah, and Kol. They hadn't heard anything from any of them which worries them. The one thing Jessica and the Mikaelsons enjoy is revenge on those that have betrayed them.

This is why Marcel is unsurprised when Klaus shows up at his loft and begins beating him, however, he is very surprised by what is revealed to him.

"They don't think she's ever going to wake up and our only option is to hope that when we pull the plug the guardians or whatever the hell they are called don't decide that now is her time to stay dead. That is on you, Marcellus. She loved you, she trusted you! And now, she is going to die because of you and she may not come back. From the moment she knew of you back in the 1800s, she did everything to ensure that I was at that plantation to save you because she was a woman and could do nothing. She has always loved you and you just threw that in her face and all for what? To break a spell that was already broken!" He screams at the man he had raised as his own son.

"What?" Marcel chokes, feeling the guilt grip his throat as he realizes that the girl he had met in New Orleans, the one that had made him feel more pain than ever before yet chose to show him mercy, the one he had vowed to protect was going to die because of his choice. He never should've trusted Aya, he knew that but he didn't want to die and as much as Jessica claimed the prophecy to be fake, he didn't know that for sure yet here he was, learning that Jessica had already broken the link. Another part of her grand plan that she couldn't share no doubt.

"Jessica broke the link years ago. After I threatened her brother, she unlinked my sireline, to save you as you were the only vampire linked to me she cared for at the time, she intended to kill me for it but she chose to cause me pain instead by allowing me to live with the guilt that I had hurt the person I loved most. You and Davina betrayed her and now she is going to die and our children are going to grow up never knowing her and that is not a life I wish for anyone," he whispers, tears streaming from his eyes, fearing the worst.

With his piece said, he turns on his heels and leaves, knowing that he could never kill his son and hurt Rebekah as well as knowing that Jessica wouldn't want him dead, even after what he did. That's just how Jessica was.

As Klaus heads home, Kol goes to meet Davina in the attic of the church, the betrayal he feels cutting him deep and unable to focus knowing that his best friend is on her deathbed and just might now be able to pull through. He opens the door to see Davina looking at him in tears. "Kol, I am so sorry," she cries and he scoffs.

"It's not me you have to apologize to, Davina. Although you may never get the chance to make your amends now."

"What do you mean?" Davina questions and Kol feels his throat tighten as he pushes his next words out.

"The stress of the spell that made Jessica turn back to 15 being broken and bringing her back to herself was too much. It induced labor but the stress was too much on her body. She's slowly dying in some bloody hospital, hooked up to machines that are barely keeping her alive as we try to find a solution to this problem with magic when I don't believe that there is anything we can do."

Davina watches him cry and tries to hold in the tears that are threatening to fall for the woman who had cared for her more than anyone else, the one she had betrayed, knowing that she doesn't deserve to mourn her since this is her fault. "I didn't know. I'm so sorry, Kol."
