Chapter 38- Let The War Begin

3rd Person P.O.V.

Everyone did exactly as Jessica commanded and they had all the witches, vampires, and werewolves gather in the compound where they learned from Damon that Jessica was going after the council. "We have to go after her. She'll get herself killed," Kol exclaims.

"Kol's right. Jessica doesn't care what happens to her. Don't you remember the last time she shut off her humanity, Damon?" Caroline whispers urgently as Damon sighs.

"Yes and I also remember that it was you that got it on because of Klaus' suggestion. But he's dead and none of us know where the hell the council is except for Jessica. Not to mention we have a compound full of supernatural creatures that are here because they fear and respect Jessica."

"So what are we going to do then?" Kol demands.

"Perhaps I can be of service," Ophelia states, and Kol's head snaps around at the voice of his old friend.

"Ophelia," he whispers, making Damon and Elijah frown before Jessica steps next to her.

"Oh good, everyone's back. Did you gather the army?"

"Yeah, they have a great army that expects you to lead them," Vivianne scolds, angry she had shut her humanity off.

"Well then what are we waiting for. They need motivation and I planned a speech," she tells them and Ophelia turned to her.

"When did you have time to prepare a speech?"

"I'm a genius, Lia. I didn't even have to do any work." Jessica then turns to her family and grins. "Go join the forces. This is going to be one hell of a motivational speech." They frown at her cheery tone but listen.

As they walk away, Caroline leans towards Damon and whispers, "I thought you said she had no humanity."

"Maybe she's a better actress than we realized," he suggests and she shrugs. Jessica walks out to the balcony where Nik loved to give his speeches to his vampire army during his brief rule over the vampire population. She gives her family a moment to settle as all the supernatural beings chat among themselves. When she notices them blending in with the crowd she steps to the railing.

"Excuse me," she calls, and at the sound of her voice, all talking ceases and Jessica grins. "Now, a lot of you know me and those who don't have heard of me. My name is Jessica Gilbert and I'm a very powerful supernatural being. I was born part witch and part vampire with a dormant werewolf part. I broke my curse when I was 16 after my parents died in a car accident that I had dreamt about months prior because I am also a banshee, meaning that I have the ability to predict death.

"I don't know if you know why you are here so I will explain it to you. Thousands of years ago, before even the Originals, a council was formed to bridge the divide between witches and werewolves after a powerful and evil witch cursed her people to turn into wolves every full moon before they killed her to stop her killing spree. This council was very effective at first. For several centuries, the two species lived in harmony. Then, a witch's husband killed her werewolf lover and incited the war once more with a new player: vampires.

"The council added a vampire to their ranks but they had already received a prophecy foretelling their downfall and became more concerned with preventing that than doing the job they were created and blessed by Nature to do. Now I'm sure you've heard that I am Nature's balance meaning that my connection to nature is as pure as possible and it is Nature's will that the council falls."

"What's this got to do with us?" One of the werewolves shouts.

"Everything. Back when the council was first formed, there wasn't a vote. No one got to choose the members, and that is why they were so easily corrupted, so I offer a new plan. One way or another, the council will fall. Now, you can stand with me, and this war with the council can end in peace between the species as you all get to elect three representatives or you can leave, but know that the new council will stand with the blessing of not only Nature but of myself and as the balance, I determine what lives and what dies. What is allowed and what isn't. I do not wish to deceive you. There is a chance that I may not be able to defeat the council on my own and if that happens, I hope you will be willing to fight for me and if not, you are welcome to leave now. But if you leave, you will have no choice in this council, but you will obey it. You will not have a choice once I give them my blessing."
