Out of the Blue

Paige is uneasy

Lea’s POV

I brushed my hair lightly before going down the stairs and pulling the newspaper out of its box. An enveloped dropped out and onto the grass. I picked it up and saw no return address or who it was from.  It wasn’t sent by the ordinary mailman. It was crumpled up in the newspaper box. I unfolded it and saw another threat.

“Lea – another threat”

Caylah took the paper from my hand.

“Now this one says ‘It’s almost the end – have you said goodbye? If you have it’s time for me to say goodbye’. Oh, this is ugly”

“It is – I know. I’ve never received anything like this but this is my second threat”

“Everything’s alright Lea – as long as the boys are around. Oh, and by the way, Nareesha and Kelsey are coming over”

Siva and Nareesha were sitting beside each other filling up the loveseat in the living room. Paige was sitting beside me while reading a magazine with an uneasy look in her eyes. What was wrong with her? She always had a really good friendship with Nareesha, why does she have an uneasy look? Paige couldn’t be mad at Nareesha, isn’t she? Or is she in love with Siva. Great – now I’m uneasy.

This wasn’t normal. Nothing of what she’s doing is normal. Caylah sat down beside me and put a magazine in front of us.

“Have you been noticing Paige, lately?”

“What have you been noticing with her? The uneasy look on her eyes?”

She nodded and put the magazine slightly down letting us peek on what she was doing. Paige wasn’t reading the magazine anymore but she still had an uneasy look on her eyes, now it was on Nareesha. I rushed to the coffee table and picked up the magazine she was reading. We flipped it to a Paige that was folded which was showing a photo of Siva and Nareesha walking in the beach.

“Listen to this – Siva Kaneswaran and girlfriend Nareesha McCaffrey were caught in Venice Beach having some PDA while walking around bare feet. This must be what Paige was reading – she folded Nareesha’s photo in half. Which also means she hates Nareesha and means that she is in love with Siva – you can tell that she’s mad at her she encircled her name”

“That’s mean – I thought she really loved Nareesha”

“That was only for rehearsal – this is now the live performance”

“Cruel and vicious with a pinch of vain”

She nodded and lowered the magazine to look back at Paige who was already talking to Siva and Nareesha.

“Truly, my sister is cruel, vicious and vain”

I nodded with her suggestion and rose up the magazine so we can have a private talk again.

“But why would she be mad at Nareesha even though she’s already in love with Siva? I mean – Siva and Paige have been really close friends – Siva’s already taken and Paige is still single. She’s mad at Nareesha for taking Siva from her?”

“Maybe”

She lowered the magazine before putting it down on the coffee table and pulling me up to her room and continuing our talk. I locked the door and ran towards the bed.

“Also – why would she be in love with someone who’s already taken?”

“My sister’s different – she would fall for anyone who she spent so many times with and had a lot of fun with – which is Siva. Remember the laughter in the basement – they were having a fit of laughter there – that time must’ve been the time Paige was falling for Siva”

Someone knocked on the door making us stop the talk for a minute. I opened it and let Kelsey inside. She sat down beside Caylah after locking the doors.

“Have you noticed how Paige was looking at Nareesha?”

We looked at each other and back at Kelsey.

“You’ve noticed?”

We answered in unison. Kelsey nodded and closed the windows.

“She’s been looking at Nareesha meanly since we’ve arrived. I wonder if she’s in love with…”

“She is in love with Siva”

There was a shock look in her eyes. It was true – Paige had uneasy and mean looks on Nareesha. Nareesha didn’t do anything to her – they’ve been friends since we’ve known Nareesha. They both met at the beach party back in Bolton.

“Also – it’s not possible that she hates her – they’ve been friends since they met”

“Like what Caylah said, Kelsey – that was only for rehearsal this is the live performance”

“This also means she’s acting kindly in a fake way but she’s really mad at her. It’s not that hard to see if someone’s mad at one person. It’s obvious if she looks at the person awkwardly”

Caylah nodded at my suggestion and took out her phone. Paige messed up with our friendship with Nareesha. It sucks when you look at your sister do that to your closest friend.

“I’m calling Nathan and tell him to come up here”

She went in the bathroom leaving me with Kelsey.

“Why does Paige hate Nareesha? I know that she’s in love with Siva but why hate Nareesha. She’s such a sweet girl, there’s no way someone would hate her”

“I’ve been thinking the same Kelsey, we have the same thought. But I’m scared of what will Paige do if she can’t stand the feeling anymore”

“What do you mean?”

“Haven’t you been in Asia – there’s this show called Sket Dance and one of the members has a story. The story was how the member didn’t speak anymore and how he continued using a computer for his voice. He had a brother that died because of a girl that was about to stab his friend which was a girl but his brother jumped in font of her making him the one to be stabbed. That’s what I’m afraid of – if Paige ever stabs Nareesha. Also – that story reminded me of my stalker”

“You have in your mind is that if Paige can’t keep the feeling any longer there might be a choice that she’ll kill Nareesha?”

I nodded. Caylah went out the bathroom before someone knocked on the door breaking the silence. Caylah opened the door to let Nathan go inside.

“Something’s going on with Paige”

“We know”

We all answered in unison. He sat down beside me and pulled me to his lap. His warm hands were on mine again. My head was rested on his chest.

“What do you think is wrong with her?”

I raised my head and looked at him strangely.

“She’s in love with Siva – that’s why she’s starting to hate Nareesha because of her feelings for her boyfriend. It’s stupid how she grew those feelings for just doing the laundry”

Nathan gave me a soft look.

“Don’t tell her I read her diary but she’s been having feelings for Siva since they met. But she isn’t planning for anything violent to do with Nareesha but to tell her a lie about Siva. It’s weird but how will she even do that without any help?”

“I think I know”
