"What if we both fall off, you're giving him up

Lea’s POV

I put on my waist high shorts before going out the sliding glass door in the back which was leading us to the pool. Danielle approached me and handed me a notebook.

“Those are the list of guest that arrived and the ones with no check they didn’t arrive”

I scanned the names alphabetically and suddenly arrived in the letter ‘J’ showing the first name ‘Jay McGuiness’. Eleanor tapped my shoulder and gave me a smile as soon as I turned around.

“Lea – I just wanted to remind you that Louis and I decided to invite ‘The WANTED’ too, if it’s okay with you?”

“Yeah, everything’s fine – but did you invite Perrie and the rest of the band?”

“We did”

She walked away and approached Louis. Harry and Liam approached me while wrapping their arms around my neck. I pulled away from them and showed them the guest list.

“You invited the TW boys for this party?”

They both nodded and sat me down on the chair.

“We’re having a shoulder duel – those boxes over there contains the partners who are gonna be fighting. The first box contains the boys and Niall picks one of them and then to the second box which is the girls. The one who gets picked with the boys gets to be the one who is on the boys’ shoulder, any questions?”

I shook my head and leaned my back on the chair. I could see Perrie sitting on one of the chairs drinking something with Nathan sitting beside her. Danielle sat down beside me while swatting Liam and Harry away.

“You noticed Nathan and Perrie?”

“I thought I was the only one”

Eleanor sat down on my left and put up a newspaper in front of us.

“Seriously, you all noticed the two of them? How are you doing over there Lea?”

I wiped away a tear that was streaming down my face and suddenly stood up. We all walked in the guestroom and locked the door.

“We know you feel bad about seeing Nathan with another girl – and we know you still love him because Harry told us”

Danielle looked out the window and looked back at us.

“The shoulder duel’s begun”

She unlocked the door and rushed out the back. My head was aching so much that I couldn’t stand up any longer.

“Okay – our first pair is Liam and Danielle who will be fighting Louis and Eleanor”

Zayn sat down beside me while I was noticing Nathan just glancing over us. I stood up and approached Nathan.

“Whoa – hey, you’re not aloud to touch him anymore”

“I knew him first Perrie Louise Edwards, so back off”

Nathan stood up and walked inside the house while holding my hand. There was something wrong while he was holding my hand. I closed the door in the guestroom and sat down beside him.

“What’s going on with you and Perrie?”

He gave me a puzzled look before looking out the window.

“Nate – listen to me. What’s going on with you and Perrie?”

“Nothing”

I gave him a death glare before turning to the window myself. I stood up and held his hand.

“Are the two of you dating?”

Eleanor and Louis stormed inside soaking wet.

“Nathan, Lea, you guys are next. Zayn’s with Lea and Nathan’s with Perrie”

Something snapped inside me when I heard the last three words. Louis held on my shoulder before letting me out.

“We made a deal with Perrie – if you win you get Nathan back but if you lose he’s hers. But if it’s a tie, you’re gonna have to give Zayn back”

“She can have Zayn – he’s just my friend”

The song ‘Oath’ played in the background. It was stupid why they have to do that. I remembered the guest list. Becky G was there. She must’ve been assigned to be the DJ. All of a sudden the song stopped and it played ‘Look after you’.

“This might not be a battle everyone – this might be a war”

Zayn jumped in the pool before I gave Perrie a glare. He pulled me on his shoulders to start the game

“I’m too heavy aren’t I?”

“It’s a normal girl’s weight”

Niall looked at the two of us and back to Perrie and Nathan.

“This game starts now”

I held on Perrie’s shoulders making sure I had a tight grip to make her fall off Nathan. Zayn also had a tight grip on my legs to prevent me from falling but I felt lose. Like he wanted us to lose the game so I won’t have Nathan back.

“Oh – so you’re doing your best to win back Nathan, huh? Well tell you what. I’m not giving him back even if you win”

“What about if we both fall off, you’re giving him back”

“Deal”

She let go of my shoulders and took a grip on my hair. I did the same pulling it harder than she did on mine. We received gasp from everyone around us. Nathan and Zayn let the two of us fight underwater by letting us lose. My arm already had scratches from her fingernails. Blood was already streaming on my arm. We weren’t at all floating. We just kept pulling each other’s hair until Zayn and Nathan dove underwater pulling the two of us apart. Nathan was pulling me by the waist making me feel like I wanted to scratch his skin as well. Blood built up on my skin without being washed off.

Eleanor and Danielle sat me down on the beach chair and looking at my arm. A huge scratch was on my arm – starting from the elbow to the forearm.

“Oh my God – somebody get a first aid kit”

Louis handed Eleanor the first aid kit while I was already being unconscious.

My head felt heavy – I felt a soft hand helping me stand up. I opened my eyes and saw soft, green eyes looking down at me.

“Are you okay?”

I suddenly recognized the voice – I pushed his hand away and looked at the clothes I was wearing – they were still the wet clothes with blood streaming on the sleeve.

“Lea, I’m sorry”
