A sinister mind

Lea’s POV

The six of us were sitting around the booth in a restaurant. Nathan was just stabbing his food with the fork while tapping his fingers on the table. I was sitting beside Tom and not even talking to Nathan. Jay and Max were giving us an awkward look – until one of them said this:

“Okay, why aren’t the two of you talking to each other? This is a bit weird – you haven’t talked to each other since last week. What’s going on?”

I looked at Tom and stood up.

“Excuse me, Tom – I’m going home early. I feel a bit ill”

He stood up and walked towards the door.

“Guys, I’m walking Lea home. I’ll meet you at the arena after thirty minutes”

“Okay, you asked for it”

Tom’s POV

Something was wrong between Lea and Nathan. I mean isn’t it obvious – they haven’t talked to each other; they don’t even go near each other. Nathan and I are having a long talk tonight. Lea went in the car while listening to a song in her iPod. Something is going on. And I’m not gonna stop until Lea lets the cat out of the bag.

I started the car and glanced over Lea.

“Ley, what’s wrong with you and Nathan?”

She hissed and looked at me.

“We ended Tom”

I stopped the car in surprised nearly crashing our heads on the dashboard.

“What happened?”

“Nothing happened, it’s just me. I couldn’t hold on a relationship any longer”

I couldn’t actually believe that this happened again. First Logan now Nathan, I’m not afraid of her having a boyfriend but I’m afraid of her heartbreak, mostly – what’s gonna happen next.

Nathan’s POV

Jay, Siva and Max were looking at me awkwardly. I know I haven’t told them about me and Lea; it’s been a week since our break up.

“Okay, spill it baby brother – why aren’t you and Lea talking to each other? Did something happen? Did you have an argument or something?”   

“We broke up”

The restaurant was filled with gasp.

“Everyone’s listening – Why did you broke up?”

Jay whispered the first sentence and put his fork down.

“I don’t know but she told me we needed to. There was too much pressure and I know she couldn’t actually handle it, but I want her back even if there was pressure, distance or hates”

“Then go and talk to her”

“But I can’t”

“Nate, you can’t keep your relationship apart. You two were torn apart the first time and we’re not gonna let it happen again. The two of you were meant to be together; don’t listen to the hates but listen to the love. Ignore the pressure but notice the love. Cherish every moment you have with her”

Siva and Max gave him a strange look.

“What I have to encourage him, right?”

Lea’s POV

Tom has been on the phone since we arrived at the hotel, they were gonna have a concert tomorrow. Aren’t they supposed to be asleep this time? Well – I just want them all to go to sleep so I can just think through my thoughts. He sat down on the couch and looked at me.

“Ley, can you get me a glass of water in the kitchen?”

I walked in the kitchen and searched for a glass in the cupboards. I searched at each and every one of them until I found a bottle of sleeping pills. I grabbed the bottle and put some in a glass, I filled it with water and handed him the glass.

“I think it’s best for you to drink that in the bedroom”

“What are you thinking? We still have rehearsal later”

“Just do it”

He drank the water and crossed his arms. I raised my eyebrow and looked at him. He yawned and crashed back on the couch - one down – four more to go. I’m not killing them; I just want some private time. Someone knocked on the door disturbing the silence.

“Eleanor, it’s us”

Jay sing-sang.

“I know”

I walked towards the door letting the three of them run inside. Nathan just walked inside still staring at me.

“Hey guys, Tom passed out. Look at this”

Jay raised Tom’s head facing it through all of us. He made grotesque shapes with his mouth laughing silently.

“Watch this – happy, sad, mad and surprised. Happy, sad, mad and surprised”

They all laughed quietly while covering their mouths.

“Hey guys, do you need a glass of water or something”

They all nodded and went back on making fun with Tom’s face. I prepared the same thing I handed down to Tom a minute ago and handed the four glasses to all of them. Jay stood up and looked at the boys.

“Race you to the bedroom”

He ran towards the bedroom door then crashed after opening it. I heard loud thuds behind me. I turned around and saw the three boys fast asleep beside the couch, on the floor and behind the couch. Jay was asleep in the doorway; I stared at all of them and walked to the room so I could think more about mine and Nathan’s used-to-be-relationship.

I was still thinking of him for the rest of the night; I shouldn’t have put sleeping pills on his glass. But I needed some privacy, I couldn’t think of my thoughts if they make too much noise. I also needed to talk to him, I feel like I’m nothing without him at all. I walked out the room and behind the couch where Nathan actually crashed in. I shook his shoulders making him wake up. 

He stared at me for a minute then stood up.

“Are you OK?”

I shook my head and stood up in front of him.

“I can’t get over our breakup. It was like a pain that was caused by a hole in the chest. I felt like nothing, Nate”

He pulled me closer to him and kissed my lips softly. I broke the kiss while making an eye-contact with him.

“Just a week of no relationship and you both felt pain”

I looked towards the boys and saw Siva rubbing his forehead.
