"Ah! Don't shout at me like that hyung!" moaned Mark to Johnny.
"You were ignoring me!! Anywayssss, how did your date go?????"
"It wasn't a fucking date."
"Woah! You don't have to swear about it. Come on, I know it was a little date~," Johnny teased. "Did you," Johnny made kissing noises to Mark, only winding him up more.
"IT WASNT A FUCKING DATE ASS HOLE!" Mark stood up in anger and stormed off.
Even though it could be considered a date (in Mark's eyes), he didn't want to say it was. Not to Johnny anyway. He teased him too much and he was embarrassed about it.
Mark knew he liked boys, but he was in denial. He even felt guilty for saying he didn't like Haechan, but then again he felt too embarrassed to say that he did like him.
That prick Johnny! Fuck him! I don't like boys! Not after what happened last time. I just like Haechan as a friend. Is that too much for him to understand!?
Mark walked home in a bad mood. When he got home, he relaxed for a bit before he got ready for work. He had a job at a pub in the rough part of town.
Work was always boring for him; he only did it so he could have money to buy video games. He still lived at home with his parents so he didn't need to worry about other expenses.
~
When his 5-hour shift had finished, it was nearing 1 in the morning. As he walked home, he watched as the nightlife was starting to pick up. People laughing, shouting, having fun, it did seem interesting to Mark but just not today.
As he continued walking home, he turned towards the beach that he was practically walking on. He sat down on the wall and admired the sea, how calm it looked. It made Mark feel at ease.
"Mark?"
Mark recognised the voice but turned around before answering.
"Haechan? What are you doing out so late?" Haechan sat down next to Mark, his feet dangling off the wall as well. "It's really dangerous in this part of town. And you don't live anywhere near here."
Haechan didn't respond straight away but just looked longingly towards the moonlit beach out to sea.
"I miss my friend," began Haechan, still looking forwards. "The darkness reminds me of him, so I thought I'd come to a beautiful dark place."
Mark looked at Haechan before looking back out to sea.
"Can you not go and see your friend?" asked Mark.
"He doesn't live here; I won't be able to see him for a long time," Haechan said glumly, still staring at the bright moon in front of them, "but it's okay! I talk to the darkness and it's like he's here with me!"
Mark smiled warmly at the cute boy next to him before chuckling a little.
"It's quite ironic, don't you think?" began Mark.
"Hmm?"
"Your name is sun, but you talk to the darkness to talk to your friend. So do I have to talk to the sun to talk to you?"
Haechan smiled before looking at Mark.
"You can just talk to the light! It's how my friend talks to me as well. I'm the light, he's the dark, together we make a perfect balance."
Mark raised an eyebrow, a bit jealous that Haechan had such a close bond with another boy. But he shook his head. He ain't toxic today!
"So, when you're not here, I just talk to the light?"
"If you miss me, just talk to the light! Because that's me!!!" Haechan smiled sweetly before standing up. He held out a hand for Mark and Mark gladly took it.
Mark didn't really understand what Haechan said most of the time, but he really enjoyed his company. So much so that he feels like his heart is about to burst out of his chest when speaking to him. And his ears are permanently red when he's around him.
~
"I have to go this way Mark, I'll see you later," said Haechan smiling at Mark.
"See you later!" Mark smiled back and waved at him.
"Wait!" Haechan shouted as Mark was about to leave. "Uhh, can I hug you, please? To say goodbye?"
*THUMP THUMP THUMP*
"Uh, yeah, uh-," Mark started but got cut off by Haechans arms thrown around him. He felt so warm and safe and as he wrapped his arms around Haechan, he felt Haechan melt into him. Haechan rested his head on Mark's shoulder for a brief moment before their hug ended.
"Thanks, Mark," said Haechan, somewhat blushing as he spoke to him, "Bye-bye!" Haechan ran off, leaving a flustered Mark to process what's just happened.
~
Mark couldn't stop smiling as he continued his walk home. He couldn't stop thinking about the hug they both shared, it was unexpected but he was incredibly grateful for it. He was in his own world when a voice stopped him in his tracks.
"Mark Lee."
Mark turned around to see someone he hasn't wanted to see in a long time.
"Yuta..."
