~ ABOUT TWO MONTHS LATER ~

"What are you guys doing over the break?" asks Johnny to the three others.

It was the Christmas break at the end of the week and usually Mark, Jaehyun, and Johnny did something for it. But this time they had an extra person!

"I'm not doing anything except studying," responds Haechan.

Over the last couple of months, Haechan has grown so close with the 3 of them, especially Mark. They always hang out together after their lectures and go on little "dates" together, although Haechan isn't really aware it's a date.

"I'm working but that's it, it's sooooo boringggg," Mark whined.

"I've got nothing," said Jaehyun.

"Perfect! Let's have a party then!" suggested Johnny.

The others agreed, but Haechan waited till he was walking home with Mark to ask him about it.

"What's a party??"

Mark understood Haechan well enough to know that he's probably being serious with that question. There were just some things Haechan didn't know, it didn't make him stupid! Besides, Mark thought it was cute.

"It's like a celebration."

"Ooo, what are we celebrating?"

"Uh, having friends."

Haechan smiled wide and started bouncing up and down. "Ah~ I love having friends!"

Mark looked at Haechan, watching his hair bounce up and then back down again, just slightly covering his puppy eyes. He smiled lovingly at him, feeling his body grow warmer as Haechans smiling eyes met his own.

* THUMP THUMP THUMP *

"What do people do at parties?!" Haechan asked, staring at Mark with wonder.

"Th- They just have fun, pretty much," Mark stuttered, still looking at Haechan. "You can get drunk, dance a little, make new friends. It's fun!"

"Woah..." Haechan said with amazement, "how have I never heard of it?!"

"Hmm, it's probably because you're 60 years old and have only been to tea parties," Mark teased.

"I'm not 60! I'm 19! And jokes on you, I don't even know what that is!!"

Mark laughed at the younger. "It's so cute how you don't know anything. It's like you're an alien or something!"

"I'm cute?? Yay! Mark hyung thinks I'm cute!" Haechan danced happily around Mark as they continued to walk to their homes.

"You always act so surprised when I say you're cute. Even though I've said it like a MILLION times to u."

"I know~~ but I just like you saying that to me," Haechan smiled. "Can I hold your hand please?"

Mark held his hand out and Haechan held it softly, their fingers interlinked.

Sometimes Haechan gets so overwhelmed with emotions that he feels like he needs to hold someone. Mark's noticed that he does it when he's very happy, but also when he's really nervous.

Mark knew Haechan was oblivious to the fact he had a crush on him, but he didn't mind. He liked holding his hand when he gets excited. He liked going to the beach with him. He liked when Haechan would ask questions about things that seemed so obvious, like "What's a shoe?" and "How do you get leg hair?". He even liked the weird game Haechan showed where he could turn the light off without moving - how he does that is still a mystery. He would tell him eventually how he felt, but for now, he just really enjoyed his company, and nothing needed to change.

~ THE PARTY ~

"Haechan, are you ready??" Mark knocked on Haechan's apartment door, "it started 15 minutes ago."

"Sorry! I was just researching some outfits that people wear to parties! And I've got the perfect one!!!"

Haechan unlocked his front door and slowly opened it to reveal an outfit that is in complete contrast to Mark's casual wear.

"Is it pretty?" Haechan said, twirling around.

"Uh- I-," Mark stuttered, looking at Haechan in his whimsical pink skirt.

here's what the outfit looked like tehe:

"Y-You... look so pretty," said Mark, unable to look away from him. He never thought he would like the sight of Haechan in a skirt but it's making him feel some type of way.

"Ah, I do?!" Haechan's expression turned to that of excitement as he delicately held the sides of the skirt and flicked them around, watching them move in all directions. "I looked at pretty outfits, and this one was the prettiest!"

"I- I never knew you liked to wear that kind of stuff, it suits you," Mark said blushing, holding his hand out to Haechan.

Haechan took his hand excitedly and squeezed it twice. When he turned to look at Mark, he saw how pink his ears were and poked them gently.

"Your ears are pink, is it because you're cold? Or maybe... it's because you think I'm pretty??"

Since when did this kid start teasing me as well!?! He's been hanging out with Johnny too much.

"You are pretty," Mark emphasised, looking into Haechans eyes, but quickly looking away after seeing the smirk on his face. "Okayyyyy let's go," Mark quickly changed the subject and the two began towards the party.

~ i love haechans character in this. lol i know i was the one to write it but he's still just so cute!!! i love how he doesn't know things and Mark explains them 🥺🥺 and i like how he takes things too literally all the time aha he's so cute

~ ALSO mark ain't slick!! he's turned into mr confident around Haechan coz he loves to see Haechan get excited and then hold his hand or hug him. still cute thooooo
