"So you never actually dropped out?" asks Mark as they walk to their only lecture of the day.

Haechan shook his head. "I've just been doing everything online instead! I don't even know how to drop out," he laughed. "It's just, I couldn't come in, or else I thought I would tell you. I'm sorry."

"Hey, it's okay, you don't have to keep apologising to me," Mark reassured Haechan, "I'm just happy that you're feeling okay now."

"Thanks," Haechan smiled and looked down at Mark's hand. He felt his own hand twitching, longing to hold Mark's, but he was still a bit unsure. He still felt like he was breaking the rules but he so desperately wanted to hold his hand.

Mark turned his head around and noticed Haechan's weird expression.

"You wanna hold hands?" Mark said holding his hand out to Haechan.

Haechan nodded and took his hand hesitantly; why was his heart racing?

Mark interlocked their fingers. "Your hand is shaking, are you okay?"

"Yeah, I, um, I don't know what I'm feeling..."

Mark smiled at him, thinking he looked cute before Haechan spoke once again.

"Oh, today I can't walk home with you. I have to meet Kun, he has important news to tell me."

"Oh," Mark said in a disappointed tone, already afraid to lose Haechan, "Can I not come with you?"

"You can come with me!" Haechan said excitedly. "It's just, I don't know if you'll understand what he's talking about. And you don't really know him either. But he'd be fine with you there!"

"It's okay, I'll just sit there. I'll be as quiet as a mouse!" Mark smiled.

"Mice aren't quiet!" Haechan exclaimed.

"Hmm? Why aren't they?"

"They always chirp allll nighttt while I'm trying to sleep! They have parties all the time!"

"You have pet mice?" Mark had been around Haechan's apartment and he was sure he didn't have any pets.

"What's Pet? If Pet is another name for roommate then that's EXACTLY what they are! They live inside my walls and under the floors!"

"DUDE! You have a mouse problem!"

"Hey! It's not a problem! I like having them there!" the two laughed at Haechan's clear mice infestation that he was unaware of.

The lecture ended and the two walk towards where they were meeting Kun. Haechan had told Kun that he was bringing Mark along and he said that was fine.

"So... Kun... He's the guy from the alleyway?"

"Mhmm!"

"Is he a God as well?" Mark was still getting used to all this.

"Yeah. Well, he's a Second, so he's still a God but the title is more like Protector. But it still counts as a God!"

"What's he the protector of?"

"His official title is Protector of Forests. Cool isn't it!?" Haechan said excitedly.

"So, he can like, make a tree or something?" Mark was still confused.

"Why don't you ask him when you see him? He's cool, he won't mind telling you."

"Uh, okay..." Mark was always nervous talking to new people.

Eventually, the two finally saw Kun.

"Kun!" Haechan ran up to Kun and gave him a big hug. "This is Mark."

Haechan gestured to Mark and Mark bowed politely to him. Kun bowed as well and smiled.

"Hello, sir..."

"No need to call me sir," Kun smiled, "come on, let's sit down."

The three sat down on a bench, Kun on one side, Haechan and Mark on the other.

"I see you've broken the rules already Donghyuck," Kun laughed.

"You said it was okay!" Hyuck pouted.

"Wait... Donghyuck?"

"Oh, I never told you! Donghyuck is my deity name, Haechan is my human name."

Mark was still confused but just nodded anyway.

Kun laughed. "They're not gonna know you broke the rules Hyuck, I promise. Now to get onto what I called you here about."

Donghyuck nodded.

"Did you ever know why Taeil was called back and killed by the Firsts?"

"Mmm," he nodded, "he broke Rule 1. The biggest one. Doyoung described it in gory detail to me one time..."

"Of course he did," Kun rolled his eyes. "Donghyuck, before I tell you this, I want you to prepare yourself for what I'm about to tell you. I know your views on Moon Taeil have changed after his death but I want you to listen to everything I'm saying very closely, okay?"

"Oh, okay," Donghyuck softly held hands with Mark under the table.
