"Do we know if she had a family?" Tony asks Steve, Thor, Clint, and I as we sit on the dock of the Facility.

"Us," I say, staring out at the lake as I sit on a bench next to Steve.

"What?" Thor asks as he looks at us three as if we are crazy. "Why are we acting like she's dead? We have the stones, right?"

"Yeah," Tony nods.

"As long as we have the stones," Thor says and I wipe away a tear as I continue to look out at the lake. "We can bring her back. Isn't that right?"

"Can't get her back," Clint informs Thor regretfully. "It can't be undone."

"What?" Thor laughs uncontrollably.

"Thor!" I stand up and look at him. "He said it can't be undone," I see the pain in Clint's eyes. "It just can't be. She's gone."

"Hey," Steve takes my hand and guides me to sit down again. "It's okay."

"It was supposed to be me," Clint shakes his head. "She sacrificed her life for that goddamn stone."

"She's not coming back," Smart Hulk says after angrily throwing a bench into the lake. "We have to make it worth it. We have to."

"We will," Steve says as he stands up. "You coming?" Steve looks back to ask me as the rest of them head back to the facility.

"Do you know how Nat and I had happened to get so close?" I ask him as I look out at the lake still.

"How?" Steve asks me curiously as he sits next to me again.

"After that horrible mission before the one to on you," I begin. "Fury had found me a year later in 2009, hiding in Madrid. He convinced me to go back to and work for S.H.I.E.L.D. again. Even when I returned to New York I was weary about it. But, then he sent a new agent-Natasha Romanoff-to the training room," It feels like just yesterday I had met the redhead. "She just stood there, watching me take out all my anger on a dummy before asking if I wanted to train with her. We did until we came to the conclusion neither of us could beat the other," I chuckle. "I knew Fury had told her what I had happened before I told her how I felt about the entire situation. How I felt that I had no control over my actions. How I realized that it couldn't have been me even though it was. How it killed me to think of all the innocent lives I took. But, then she told me everything about her. Everything about how she went through similar things and how she learned to move on before Fury had taken her under his wing. I went into my frozen state knowing I had a friend after."

"You trained well today," Natasha sits next to me on my bed.

"Thank you," I say, still upset over what I had done.

"It haunts you, believe me," She begins. "But it will get better."

"I just wish I knew why I did it," I sigh.

"Sometimes we have no control," She turns her head to look at me. "We have to move and work to make things right."
