Zane's POV
"Right who is this geezer?" I say asking the family, directed at my Mum, Dad, Brother, Sophia and Chantelle.
"She just told me his name was Jon they met at work and that's all I know" My mum says and continues
"Whoever he is this is the happiest I have seen her in a long time she looks alive again. Jeez she is even playing music and getting herself dolled up....the only time she makes an effort is when she is going to work" My Mum says getting the hump now.
I was worried. Lena always ended up getting hurt she was 24 years old now and hopefully she had learnt her lesson, as far I was aware there had not been anyone since JP. I had liked JP he was well alright he didn't handle things well and looking back I suppose it was down to his age his own naivety, age and trying to maintain and protect his own reputation. I couldn't blame him.
I never knew if he knew the whole truth of everything all I knew was that Lena had loved him, and I believed her when she said they had never slept together. Yes she confided in me with certain things but I think she was also protecting him I will never forget how distraught she was when JP brought her to my parents house on that Sunday when he told her and me quiet openly that he was done with Lena and to never approach his house again. I wanted to rip him apart for the pain my cousin was feeling but he hadn't caused it her naïve actions had.
When she collapsed knowing JP knew everything seeing her in that state with those bites over her I knew then she had no idea what had happened to her. I understood why JP reacted the way he did punching a hole in the bathroom door and squaring up to Dan. JP had loved her and was absolutely devastated and heartbroken.
Me and Dan was besides ourselves...Dan put a bounty out for Donavan but he went underground he was never seen in the area again word was that he left the area both me and Dan thought that Donovan had raped her or even worse passed her around. Thankfully after seeing the private doctor who confirmed that our worst fears had never took place Me and Dan would of killed him if that had happened, gladly. He was a piece of shit...I blame my Dads Sister, I cant even call her my auntie...Donavan had groomed Lena he was far too old for her and he showered her with presents and the so called good life and manipulated her and my Auntie allowed it cos she didn't give a shit.
A part of me wanted Lena and JP to get back together which was why I invited JP back to ours that night after the restaurant but it never went to plan and they never did get back on track.
It was only until I meet Sophia and knowing how much I love her that I realised how much Lena had loved JP. I didn't do the whole relationship thing then...jeez I'm not Dan! I was the more shag them and leave them. Sophia was my first proper and only real love.
Well Lena was back on form whoever this bloke was he had brought Lena back to life.
I capture Dan at the fridge.
"Bruv, what do you make of all this?" I ask Dan.
"Think we need to trust Lena Zane she has grown up a lot and I am so proud of her she has changed her life around and I think we need give this fella a chance....just hope he ain't no wet wipe or a wide boy" he laughs.
"Listen lads, I know how much you both love Lena but she is a grown woman now yous two can't keep protecting her all her life lets just give his fella of her a chance yeah" this was from my Dad and he continues
"Plus your Mum don't want no dramas today seriously I hope Lena will know by now the sort that is welcomed to this household" he laughs.
Me and Dan look at each other both cocking an eyebrow knowing what each other is thinking
"Zane lets give him a chance yeah we will know in the first 5 seconds if he is a bellend or not... if he is we can terrorise him" Dan laughs.
I run my hands through my hair.
"Yeah Dan.....sounds like a plan" I laugh not feeling this.
There is more to this...so much more I just hope whatever is going on between Lena and this new fella of hers that she knows what she is doing and hasn't fallen head over in love with some twat.
"Babe you ok?" Sophia asks me.
"Yeah darling just you know.....when it comes to Lena" I say.
I love Sophia but she doesn't know the half of what Lena has gone through or what me and Dan went through with her. Donovan left the area cos of us he knew we wasn't messing there would be blood on our hands if he had of stayed around. Sophia and Lena are close they get on so well but Chantelle was there and saw it all. It was a rule in our family if you wasn't there then you didn't need to know and my Sophia didn't know the half it.
We all head into the garden, my Dad and Dan jump into the pool with the kids, throwing Charlie, Gracie and Rubie about whilst I put Carlton in his rubber ring and gently enter in the pool.
