Lena's POV
JP drives us over to meet his parents. I was nervous as I knew this was a huge step in our relationship especially on JP's side I had wanted to meet them for so long and now I had nerves but good nerves.
"Le you ok?" JP asks me.
"Yeah I just hope they like me" I reply.
"Are you mad Lena they are going to love you they know how much you mean to me Jesus you are the first girl I have ever taken to meet them " he says and continues
"Just relax yeah...anyway I needed to talk you about something just hear me out and don't freeze up on me or cut in ok" he says.
"Ok.... but you are actually worrying me now" I reply.
He places his hand on my knee whilst he carries on driving and continues to talk.
"I've had an offer on my apartment which I am going to take it's a couple of grand under the asking price but the agent over priced it anyway. Look Lena I walk away with a nice tidy little profit and I want to use that on a deposit on a house for us. I know you love living at the annex but we need more privacy and I need somewhere to work from home when I have to put in the hours when I move back down. Look this may be all to soon for you but I want us to put down some roots of our own Le what do you say?"
"What...like really..... you want to get a mortgage together for real?" I exclaim at him.
"Yes darling I do" he replies.
"Oh god JP YES.... but we do this 50/50 ok I have savings as well for a deposit....our own house it's gonna be amazing JP...god why did you tell me when you was driving.....I just want to jump you right now" I say facing him. I see the smile on his face appear.
"We got tonight babe you can jump me all you want then....I'll speak to a mortgage broker and get the ball rolling. I have a first time buyer and as I am not in a chain hopefully the sale will go through in around eight weeks so we can start looking....we are not rushing this though Le we find the perfect house and if it doesn't come along we stay in the annex until the perfect house comes along ok"
I nod he has this all planned out.
We pull up outside his Mum and Dad's. I lean over and kiss him.
"You make me so happy JP" I say gushing at him.
"Come on babe let's go meet Mr and Mrs Brooker" he reply's smiling at me.
I grab the flowers and wine off of the back seat as me and my boyfriend head in to see his parents. We didn't need to ring the door bell his Mum was already waiting at the door to welcome us
"MUM" JP says as he cuddles her and continues
"Mum this is Lena my girlfriend" He says introducing me.
"Hi Mrs Brooker so lovely to finally meet you" I say totally in awe of this woman in front of me and I continue
"I got these for you".
"Lena, so good to finally meet you too please come here and give me a cuddle" she says and continues
"And please call me Setta, flowers and wine....now she can come again JP" she says laughing.
We head in and meet Mr Brooker...Malcolm god he is just as amazing as Setta. I can see how they are adoptive and foster parents they are full of love and warmth.
"Is Denny about?" JP asks his Mum.
Denny is Setta and Malcolm's actual birth son and Denny was four years old when JP went to live them. JP classed him as his own brother and they was close. JP said when they was younger people would look confused when JP introduced Denny as his brother due to Denny's Jamaican heritage but this never fazed either JP or Denny they was brothers in their eyes and hearts.
"He is but he is getting ready to go out I think" Setta replies.
Setta was making dinner for us a traditional Jamaican Jerk chicken with rice and peas and the smell in the house was making my mouth water.
"Alright Bruv" we all hear as Denny walks in the room.
JP hugs him. Denny is a lovely looking lad both traits from his Mum and Dad.
"How's it going man....you not stopping for dinner?" JP asks.
"Nah shooting out.....only 19 once you know" he says laughing.
"Denny...I want you to meet Lena" JP says.
Denny turns to me and smiles
"Nice to meet you Lena.....so finally someone has stolen his heart huh?" he laughs as he literally hugs into me.
"You too Denny" I say laughing
"Quit while you're ahead Denny.....I can still whip your arse you know" JP says laughing.
"I wouldn't be so sure JP...I mean what are you now 25..... you're old" Denny says laughing and within seconds JP has him in a head lock.
"BOYS enough....Jeez" Setta says laughing.
JP lets go of Denny and says to him
"Good to see ya little man....listen keep yourself free in a couple of weeks....Mum will give you the details"
"Sure...right later's all....Mum save me some dinner that smells amazing. Enjoy your evening and nice to meet you Lena" He says walking out.
I look around the room. Even though JP had a shit start in life seeing how his family interacted with each other there was pure real love just how I was with my family.
We sit to eat and the food was simply amazing best Jerk Chicken I have ever had. I chat mainly with Setta she tells me about the current two children who are in their care at the moment a brother and sister aged 6 and 4. I didn't get to meet them as they was both in bed. Setta was so interested in me asked about my family, my work how happy she was that her boy JP was happy and finally settling down and how proud she was of both her boys. Denny was in Uni doing forensic science which sounded really interesting.
I watched JP around his family and he was so relaxed. He told them that we was looking to buy somewhere together and the look on Setta's face was priceless. I literally fell in love with Setta that night she was an absolute diamond I could see how much JP meant to both Setta and Malcolm. Time just literally flew by the evening had been so relaxed and I felt so comfortable in their company.
"Babe it's gone past 11PM we should get going you've got an early start in the morning" JP says.
I nod in agreement. We all say our goodbyes and head back to mine.
"Babe why you gone quiet on me?" JP asks concerned.
"I was just thinking about your parents. They are amazing people JP.....do you think....um do you think we would be good parents like Setta , Malcolm and my Auntie and Uncle?" I just blurt out.
"Of course we will my darling, what's brought this up?" JP asks gently rubbing my hand as he drives.
We always seem to have deep and meaningful chats when he is driving.
"I dunno....would I be good enough what if I wasn't natural like my own Mother? Tanya and your Mum could I live up to their standards?" I reply sadly.
"Le when the time is right you will be a perfect Mother to our children.....but first we have plans ok....house, marriage, children you ok with that order" He says laughing.
I laugh
"Sorry I was just being stupid....do you really want marriage and kids with me JP" I ask needing reassurance.
"You drive me mad Lena....YES LENA, I want to marry you and have children with you when the time is right ok....now stop this self assassination I love the bones of you" he replies.
It had been an lovely evening with The Brookers but it did stir emotions up in me about my own up bringing and JP's but I knew we could conquer anything as long as we are together.
