Naeun's POV,
The event was winding down, and capturing the essence of the day in photographs seemed like the perfect way to preserve the memories. Laughter and chatter filled the air as guests gathered around the newlyweds, eager to be included in the final group shots.
I had been by Jihoon's side all day, and as the photographer called for everyone to gather, I found myself standing beside him once more. The buzz of voices swirled around us, but everything seemed to quiet when a sudden child's scream cut through the noise. All eyes turned toward the source—Yongrae.
"Mom! Dad!" Yongrae's excited shout echoed as he ran full speed towards Jihoon. Clutching Jihoon's leg, he then looked up at me, his face bright with enthusiasm. "I want to be in the picture too, Mom!"
His innocent request caught me off guard. For a moment, I was frozen, aware that the entire room had turned to watch. I glanced at Jihoon, uncertain. His calm, steady presence helped ground me as I looked back at Yongrae.
Not wanting to disappoint him, I smiled and nodded, kneeling down to his level. "Of course, sweetheart. Just make sure to show off that big smile when the photographer says cheese, okay?"
He nodded eagerly, his excitement contagious. From the corner of my eye, I saw Mrs. Shen watching us, a knowing smile tugging at her lips. She always found joy in moments like this, where family bonds revealed themselves in simple, unexpected ways.
As the day wore on and guests began to trickle out, I felt the weight of the long day settling in. I looked down at Yongrae, his eyes heavy with sleep, and gently patted his head. "Jihoon, it's getting late. Yongrae looks like he's ready to fall asleep on his feet," I said softly.
Jihoon glanced over, his expression tender as he watched Yongrae rub his tired eyes. "Yeah, it's time to head home."
Before we could leave, we made our way over to Mr. and Mrs. Shen to say our goodbyes. Jihoon spoke first, his voice warm but weary. "Mom, Dad, we're about to head out. Yongrae's running on empty."
Mrs. Shen smiled fondly, her gaze falling on Yongrae. "Before you go, we need a family picture. This moment is too precious to miss."
Jihoon shot me a questioning look, and I nodded with a small laugh. It was impossible to say no to Mrs. Shen. "Of course, Aunty," I replied. I crouched beside Yongrae again. "Hey, remember that big smile I told you about? Now's your chance." I winked, and his sleepy face brightened with a grin.
After the photo, Mrs. Shen reviewed the pictures, a mischievous glint in her eyes. "You know," she said lightly, "the next wedding we attend might just be Jihoon's."
Jihoon groaned, shaking his head. "Not anytime soon, Mom," he said, his tone playful but firm, a hint of embarrassment coloring his smile.
With a mischievous chuckle, Mrs. Shen pressed on, "Oh, don't worry. Naeun's already part of the family, isn't she?" Her words hit me unexpectedly, and my cheeks flushed with warmth. I let out a soft, awkward giggle. "You've been such a huge support, Mrs. Shen. As for that 'lucky girl' you're talking about... well, I can't help but wonder who she might be," I teased, my tone playful, but with a hint of avoidance beneath it.
