Taemin's POV,
"Yongrae, your mom's downstairs waiting for us," I tell him, shaking my head in mild amusement as he stands his ground, arms crossed and lips set in a determined pout. He's the picture of defiance, refusing to budge.
I snap a quick photo of his adorable sulk and send it to Naeun, a visual testament to his mood. It's almost comical that this entire situation has escalated because Naeun didn't join our movie marathon last night. Everything seemed fine—until this morning, when Yongrae started questioning her absence. "You'll be watching another movie with your mom tonight, okay?" I coax, hoping to soften his resistance.
"But you promised," he retorts, his eyes gleaming with determination. His words remind me of the promise I made to him. "Yes, and we watched a movie together last night. Now you get to watch one with your mom tonight," I grin, trying to sound persuasive.
"Not separately," he mutters, looking away as the doorbell rings. Saved by the bell.
I exhale and head to the door. Naeun stands there, arms crossed, the tension between us palpable. But as I step aside to reveal Yongrae on the couch, her expression softens, though there's still wariness in her eyes.
"Yong—" she starts, but pauses, exchanging a glance with me. We share a moment of silent understanding.
"Shouldn't we be worried about the neighbors seeing or hearing us?" she whispers, casting a wary glance at the security camera overhead. It's a valid concern, given our delicate situation.
"Can you come in for a second?" I ask gently, offering a hopeful smile. My hands twitch at my sides, itching to bridge the gap between us, but I hold back.
Naeun hesitates, her contemplation visible in the way she lingers at the threshold. But Yongrae's stubbornness seems to push her to a decision, and with a soft sigh, she steps inside. She walks over to Yongrae, kneeling in front of him until their eyes meet. Her brows lift, and she gives him a warm smile, extending a hand toward him. "Hey. Are you mad at me?" she asks, her voice tender and filled with affection.
Yongrae's gaze meets hers, his pout wavering as her warmth breaks through his resolve. "Why didn't you come last night?" he asks, arms still crossed, a clear signal of his lingering disappointment.
Naeun's eyes flick away for a second, and her voice softens as she begins to explain. Her shoulders rise in a small shrug, her smile tinged with uncertainty. "I had something to do last night," she says, her words gentle but offering little solace for his wounded feelings.
Yongrae's frown deepens slightly, his voice tinged with hope. "Can we do it together next time? The three of us?"
The room falls quiet as his request hangs in the air. His eyes are wide with anticipation, waiting for the answer he's sure he'll get. Naeun glances at me, silently pleading for help, caught between her reluctance to refuse him again and her discomfort with the situation.
