Naeun's POV,

Naeun reached out, her fingers wrapping gently around Taemin's hand, drawing his gaze to her.

"Why?" he asked softly, curiosity and affection mingling in his eyes.

She held his gaze, letting the silence linger for a heartbeat before humming thoughtfully. "Let's head back inside. This event is about you and your group. They're probably looking for you."

Taemin's lips curled into a faint smile, touched with that familiar playfulness. "Joonwoon's got it under control. The others are around too. Don't worry about me."

His words were light, almost teasing, but she caught the calm assurance beneath them. That quiet confidence he always carried—it hadn't changed. Still, something in her nudged her to go back.

"Alright, let's go," he said finally.

He rose smoothly, offering his hand again. Naeun slipped her fingers into his without hesitation, warmth spreading through her chest at the quiet, unspoken understanding between them.

As she stood, their eyes met. There was something soft in the look they shared—comfort, knowing, and the kind of bond that didn't need to be spoken aloud.

"I can't be selfish and keep you away too long," she murmured, sticking her tongue out in jest.

Taemin chuckled, low and affectionate. "Even if you did, I wouldn't mind."

Then, he leaned in and pressed a gentle kiss to her forehead. The gesture was simple, but it steadied her, grounding her in a way only he could. His sincerity had always been his quiet strength.

With fingers still intertwined, they stepped back into the heart of the event. The room still buzzed, though the energy had mellowed. Conversations drifted into softer tones, clusters of guests saying their goodbyes, coats gathered, shoes slipped back on. The vibrant pulse of earlier now softened into something calmer, almost nostalgic.

They found their seats beside Bomi, who greeted them with a grin as she reached for a fresh drink. Taemin settled in beside Naeun, their shoulders brushing lightly.

"Finally resurfacing from the balcony?" Bomi teased, her voice low and playful.

Taemin smirked, not even bothering to deny it. "Had to check on my sanity."

Bomi let out a snort and took a sip. "And? Still intact?"

"Barely," he replied, glancing sideways at Naeun with a crooked smile. "She keeps me grounded."

Naeun rolled her eyes, but the warmth in her chest bloomed quietly. Moments like this—unrushed, surrounded by people they cared about—felt rare and golden.
