Naeun's POV,
I glanced wearily at my densely packed schedule, releasing a sigh of resignation. Renewing my contract just the day before had prepared me for today's impending chaos. Few things churn my insides like an overstuffed timetable—except for one: Yongrae. No matter how hectic things got, my thoughts always drifted back to him.
A chime broke my reverie, and my phone screen lit up with a message: 'I will be picking up Yongrae today.'
Jihoon's text sent a wave of relief through me, and I checked the time. I was still tethered to the studio, committed until every task was fulfilled. Though not entirely my doing, I had brought this upon myself with yesterday's eagerness. Now, I couldn't afford to jeopardize my professional image by slacking off.
As the brand representative presented their concept and terms, I absorbed the details, nodding along thoughtfully. Once the meeting concluded, I offered a confident smile, knowing my well-prepared team would handle things from here.
Stepping outside, the warmth of the sun greeted me as I made my way to my car. My thoughts immediately shifted back to Yongrae, the anticipation of seeing him making my heart race.
When I arrived home, I rang the doorbell, smiling at the thought of Yongrae eagerly opening the door. Sure enough, the door flew open. "Mom!"
"Hello, my sweetheart!" I greeted him as he launched himself into my arms, his excitement contagious. "Did you miss me?" His enthusiastic nod was all the answer I needed.
"You're back already?" Jihoon's voice came from the living room. "He's been bugging me to talk to you about something."
I looked down at Yongrae, my brow furrowed in curiosity. "What is it?" I asked, my tone soft.
Yongrae blinked up at me, his eyes wide as if he were about to share a secret. "Can you or Daddy pick me up a little later tomorrow?" he asked, his voice filled with hope.
"So sudden? Mommy Bomi didn't mention anything about that," I replied, surprised.
His bottom lip jutted out in a pout. "She might've forgotten. But it's okay if you pick me up later. I like being at Mommy Bomi's house. Please?" His voice was so earnest, his eyes wide and pleading.
I exchanged a glance with Jihoon, both of us amused by the unusual request.
"It's alright," Jihoon mouthed, giving me a reassuring nod.
I sighed, unable to resist. "Okay, okay," I chuckled, gently ruffling Yongrae's hair. This was strange as he'd never been so insistent about staying anywhere longer—not even at Mrs. Shen's place. His sudden attachment to Bomi's house felt unexpected.
"Alright, but on one condition." His wide eyes were full of anticipation. "If Mommy Bomi gets busy or if you ever want to come home earlier, just let me or Daddy Jihoon know, okay? We'll come get you."
