broken dollhouse

black eyed susans - bending out into the ocean

the shadowed doll curtains veined

light tappings of porcelin blue china

cracked tea cups smiling

dust bunny draped chandeliers - cobwebbed print gleaming in the sun

fingers nervously twitching down braids

stroking cellos

and i see you on the porch and the altar,

practicing vows

dusty velvet jackets, top hats & grinning smiles

firewood slowly crackling as we lay on patterned couches

- crumpling as we move

the facade of welcome in our abandoned mansion

we clawed our way through fallen houses

homely until the zombies go away

our canned food collection slowly dwindling

still its just me & you & the rats & roaches

and that's all i need

as bodies sway faintly

as dust dances in the streaks of light

looking at me with flat glass eyes and painted lips

our bodies breathing

as we succumb into our new forever

always raining - PoetryWhere stories live. Discover now
