flailing

you hold my stars so gently
while i flail -
like a broken butterfly
dropped on the ground
(got caught in a gust of his wind, during the darkest of his storms) (im not ok, thanks for asking)

it's time to stop flailing and look
at someone with a fixed gaze

but sure, i can hold all of you under my trembling wings like baby birds
but only one can i fully pour into my love

my wishes break loose and blow away like dandelion seeds but never make contact
your words glitter like fireflies
and sunkiss my skin
I never even thought it was possible to be treated this sweetly

you kiss my scars and promise to take me to Mars
holding me mostly to shield back the blows
how could i forget you. Shit

one pulls me, the other i turn to desperately grasp at
forever gripping your cuffs
how can you forgive me?
i dont deserve to hold your heart
with my clumsy dirty fingers

you are a natural phenomena

that i want to sit on my back porch to watch

with an amused grin and sparkling eyes

i feel obligated to please the both of you,

for my tap dance to be sure-footed at your watchful eyes

looking at you,
Still terrified of the day i have to bid you adieu

and say,

bye, i hope all of your wishes come true
bye i hope you find someone like you
bye, because you deserved the best (and i couldn't give it to you)
bye because - who knows why - the universe is cruel
