always raining - Poetry

PRETTYDAMNAWESOME

You are raw undiscovered talent

you are sun and moon and stars

and unbridled glory

you are a thousand cups of coffee, kitty kisses, and tired smiles

you are, every time you tell a joke and no one laughs

you are, every time you run for a train and get stuck between the doors

you are, dog eared books, dozens of notebooks filled brim to brim, and soggy coffee filters

you are, every time you drag yourself to work with a wrinkled shirt, messy bun, and half shut eyes

you are, every time you go to starbucks and they fuck up your order (what part of extra whip cream don't you understand!?)

you are, hours in front of a laptop staring at a flickering cursor, writing until the sun goes down

you are, every time you daydream or stare off into space

you are, all the cat hair that layers everything you own (cat hair is lonely people glitter)

you are every time you bust out laughing for no reason (and look like a crazy person)

you are, every time you trip and then look around to see if anyone saw you (if no one sees it, it didn't happen)

you are, all the packs of cherry chapstick you have rolling around the bottom of your purse, every bath and body works candle you own, and every crime documentary you've ever watched (solving murders on the weekend, with a fuzzy blanket, sweatpants and a bottle of wine)

you are pretty
