the tulips

the sun refused to shine and
still you held me in the darkness
your arms wrapped tightly
as you whispered,
"im never letting go."
and though i fought several times
to get out of your hold,
eventually i succumbed and surrendered
into the warm and budding tulips
that grew inside my heart
he was winter and you're my spring
budding and blossoming hope
into a previously empty soul
he gave me nothing and still i grasped
at straws
lovingly lapping up the bare scraps i got
&you gave me everything
I didnt even know what that was like
It's almost too much, dont even know what to do with it all
While the sun and rainbows burst through the clouds in my heart
I lovingly release him back into the void,
where he prefers to be
I liked the rain, but i prefer the sun
So much more
