Chapter 37 // Mr. and Mrs. Reid

Chloe's POV.

I'm not a huge fan of double dates. Especially when the 'double date' isn't even a double date. If that makes any sense. From the plane ride all the way back to the elevator at the BAU, Morgan would not stop calling our little get together a double date. I kept reminding him that it wasn't while Spencer stood there awkwardly, which didn't exactly help.

And I'm not even going to mention the walk from the elevator to the parking lot. Okay, well, at least not in a lot of detail. Basically, Morgan and Garcia, being their sixth grade-selves, wouldn't stop giggling like little girls when we reached his car and Spencer asked if the two of us could talk alone for a minute.

"So, I'll drive you home and then pick you up at eight?" He asked once they left, awkwardly shoving his hands into his pockets. 

"Yeah, sounds good." I replied while keeping my eyes on Morgan and Garcia. If my eyes had lasers, I probably would've burned holes into their heads. Spencer opened the door for me and then closed it once I was inside the car before getting into the driver's seat.

The ride home was a little awkward, to be honest. I think that it was because the two of us had no idea what would go down later that night at the movies. Would we end up admitting what happened between the two of us to Morgan and Garcia? I mean, it's not like they didn't already know, but telling them would just be the icing on the cake for them.

Once we arrived at my apartment, the awkwardness noticeably increased. Was I supposed to kiss him? Was he supposed to walk me up to my door? Damn, we were adults and yet we were acting like fourth graders.

"See you at eight?" I asked while unbuckling my seat belt. "Yeah, I'll be here." He replied. "Alright. See you later, Spence." I looked up at him and gave him a quick peck on the lips before leaving the car. And although it was just a small peck, he looked pretty shocked that I did that. Which, I guess, didn't come as surprising considering he didn't have much experience with girls. I smiled to myself as I walked up to my door. It made me happy and excited to know that he'd experience new things with me if our relationship worked out. Of course, I had already experienced almost everything, and although I don't exactly find pride in that, I'd get to show him new things because of it.

Before I knew it, eight o'clock came around and I hurriedly touched up my hair and makeup in the bathroom before grabbing my coat and my purse. The doorbell rang at exactly 8:02, however, knowing Spencer, he probably got here at 8:00 and then decided not to be too punctual, so he waited in his car for two minutes.

In the car, we discussed what we were going to do at the movies if Garcia or Morgan brought up anything about us being together.

"What if we just told them, Spence? It's not like we'd be telling Hotch or Rossi." I asked, turning my head to face him.

"I know, Chloe, but word could get around. Not that I don't trust Garcia and Morgan, but I wouldn't be surprised if one of them let it slip."

"I just hate how we have to do this in private. I mean, I know that it was my idea and everything, but it just sucks." I replied with a sigh, running my fingers through my hair.

"Yeah, me too." He said before removing one hand from the steering wheel and placing it on top of mine. "We'll figure it out, I promise."

Morgan and Garcia were standing in front of the theater, four tickets in hand, with these big gawky smiles on their faces once they saw us walking towards them. "Mr. and Mrs. Reid decided to show up!" Morgan called out as he pointed to us with his free hand, his other was hugging a large tub of popcorn. I rolled my eyes, even with a smile on my face, and greeted them before we all went inside to see the movie.

The movie was one of those typical found-footage type horror films that seem to be the only kind of horror movies made these days, but it was pretty damn scary and I found myself having to refrain from burying my face into Spencer's chest from time to time.

"Okay, I'll admit, that was terrifying." I said with a laugh as we exited the theater.

"Oh, please, the main character was dumb as hell. Who continues to record themselves while their possessed brother is trying to kill her? You women can be really irrational at times." Morgan replied.

"Hey, the only one being irrational here is you with your biased opinions on women." Garcia chimed in, lightly slapped him on the shoulder. 

"Okay, okay, I apologize. Hey, pretty boy, you've been awfully quiet." He said as he eyed Spencer, who was walking silently next to me.

"There was nothing logical about that movie." He finally spoke up with confusion in his voice.

"Spencer, that's the point." I said with a laugh. 

"But wouldn't you think that if one were possessed, then their family would call an exorcist or a priest instead of just locking him up in his room?" He asked, scratching the back of his head.

"Well, yeah, but then it wouldn't have worked with the storyline." I replied.

"A couple's first argument is always the worst, be careful, lover boy." Morgan said, placing a hand on Spencer's shoulder.

"I don't know where you guys got the idea that him and I are dating." I said nonchalantly, taking a sip of the soda I bought from the movie theater.

"You're right. I'm sorry, I'm sorry." Morgan said, putting his hands up in defense. "You guys would be adorable together, though." Garcia added, stifling a laugh.

"You guys are so-" I began to say before the vibration of my cell phone interrupted me. It was then followed by the vibration of everyone else's phones, and we all knew what was coming.

Another case, sorry. BAU tomorrow at 8 AM. -Hotchner

Great, another case already?

"Fun's over, ladies and gentlemen." Morgan spoke first. "We should all get some sleep."

"You're probably right." I replied, realizing how tired I actually was. "See you all tomorrow. Eight o'clock sharp." I said, pointing a reminding finger at them.

The rest of us said our goodbyes, and then parted ways.
