Chloe's POV.

Three cups of coffee. Three. And now I was on my fourth. It even surprised me that I wasn't bouncing off the walls and that my hands weren't shaking yet. As I poured another steaming hot cup of caffiene, I noticed Reid staring at me out of the corner of my eye. Did he have something to say? Maybe he was finally ready to apologize for being such an asshole to me for the past week.

After a few seconds, I expected him to look away, but he just kept staring. A few glances back down at his coffee cup were made, then he'd keep looking back up as if he was unsure of whether or not he should say something.

"What are you staring at?" I asked, raising a brow at him. Obviously I knew that he was staring at me, but I wanted to see if he'd actually admit to it.

He raised both of his eyebrows and quickly turned away, focusing on the clock on the wall behind us. "Who, m-me? I wasn't staring at anything." He replied before facing towards me again.

Yeah, sure. I thought as I rolled my eyes. "Reid, if you have something to say, I'd really like to hear it."

It seemed like a century had passed before he finally opened his mouth, "Chloe, I-"

"We found him." Morgan informed us, cutting off Reid. Without finishing his sentence, Reid rushed out of the room with me following behind.

Apparently the unsub was a woman named Amelia White. She had a miscarriage when she was in her thirties which led her to a mental breakdown, causing her to forget the fact that she had a miscarriage and that she didn't actually have a daughter. So basically, she saw the children that she had kidnapped as her daughter and she saw the actual parents of the children as her daughter's kidnappers. That's why she killed them before taking the child. Although we couldn't figure out why she killed the first child, we did find out that she was taking them to her house.

It was the scene that I had gotten quite used to: cop cars surrounding the area with their red and blue lights constantly flashing, the other cops and my team aiming guns towards the house, and that same feeling of whether or not something could go terribly wrong.

"Somebody's gotta go in there." One of the cops shouted. "I'll go." Reid replied, taking cautious steps towards the house. I took a look at Morgan and Rossi, they nodded their heads in silent agreement as we followed Reid.

Rossi knocked. "Amelia White, we know that you're in there." He shouted. No response. Twisting the knob, we realized that the door was unlocked and the lights inside the house were shut off. It was almost midnight, so we had to turn on the flashlights on our guns in order to see around the house.

"Clear." Morgan informed us after checking down the hallway. "Clear." I responded after checking the living room and the kitchen. "Guys, look." Reid said as we turned our heads to see what he was pointing at. There was a small crack of light coming from one of the doors upstairs. We followed him as he tried his best to quietly walk up the stairs, which didn't exactly work out because the stairs seemed to be old and creaked with each step.

We got in position and aimed our guns at the door. Reid looked at the three of us and we nodded, giving him the OK to open the door. Although we were too far off to the side to see what was in the room, from Reid's expression after opening the door we could tell that it wasn't good.

"Hey, guys, um- I think that you should wait outside." He said nervously, not taking his eyes off of what was inside that room. "What? Why?" I asked, that feeling that something might go wrong started to grow, making me feel sick.

"Amelia and I are just going to talk. Please, go outside. Now." He demanded, although his tone was scared. "What's going on, Reid?" Rossi asked.

"Come on, kid. We're not leaving you." Morgan chimed in. "Go!" Reid shouted, giving us a glare. Rossi, Morgan, and I all looked at eachother before deciding not to argue with him, and we headed downstairs and out the door, joining the rest of the team outside.

"Where's Reid?" Hotch asked as we got closer. "He told us to go back outside." I informed him, leading him to furrow his brows even more than they already were. "Something has to be going on in there." He replied. "If Reid doesn't show up in the next two minutes, we move in. Do you all understand?" Hotch asked, causing us to nod our heads.

We kept our guns aimed on the house. Everyone was quiet and the only sound that could be heard in the nighttime air was the sound of trees swaying and crickets chirping.

---And then before we knew it, a loud boom erupted into the air,

and the house was in flames.
