I could hear the sounds of cameras flashing and news reporters shouting before I even stepped outside of the police station. A few feet from the door, I paused and grabbed Reid's arm to hold him back. "What exactly do I say out there?" I looked up at him, finally realizing how much taller he was. Then again, most people were taller than me considering I was 5'3.
"Everything that you had just told me back in the car, and the other details that we just went over in the conference room. If they ask you about the families of the two victims, just tell them that we are doing the best that we can. Okay?" He gave me a nervous yet reassuring smile before looking back down at his arm, making me realize that I still hadn't let go. "Sorry." I quickly put my hand back down by my side. "It's okay." His voice cracked which made his cheeks turn slightly red and he let out a nervous chuckle.
Once we stepped out of the building, the cameras were immediately pointed as us and the microphones were aimed at our mouths. All of the reporters started talking all at once, but the one in front of me caught my attention first. "Should all girls in college be on the look out for this man?" She had practically screamed at me so her voice could top the others. "This unsub is looking for girls most likely between the ages of eighteen to twenty one. His two victims both had blonde hair and blue eyes. However, we want to insure the safety of all women in nearby campuses and women who live in this town in general. Whether you have the attributes that this unsub is going for or not, please keep yourselves safe." Reid decided to jump in after I had finished. "Please do not leave the house after dark, and if you do, make sure to bring someone with you. Also, if you see any unusual activity in the area, do not hesitate to call 911. If anyone has any other information regarding this case, please come forward." As he finished, another reporter called out, "Is it true that the killer had sewn the eyes and mouth of Rachel Smith shut before killing her?" I wasn't exactly sure if I was allowed to answer the question, so I looked up on Reid, relying on his answer. He glanced over at me before answering the reporter. "We are not allowed to reveal any details about the crime scene at this time. We thank you all for your cooperation." And with that, he motioned back towards the doors. As we walked back into the building, the reporters kept screaming questions, now along with profanity, at the two of us, clearly unhappy with our answers.
"Well, that was nerve-wracking." I leaned back against the wall and combed through my hair with my fingers. "Don't worry, it'll get easier. You just have to-" Reid was quickly cut off by Agent Morgan, who looked more than worried.
"Another kidnapping has just been reported."
