Garcia was quickly able to figure out that the preacher who JJ and Agent Hotchner had spoken with's real name was Gordon Borrell. He had been arrested a few years ago for cutting a girl whom he employed on the back when he lived in Alberta, Canada. He changed his name from Gordon Borrell when he crossed the border to America and now goes by Preacher Mills. "Let me tell you something, those canadians seem so sweet and innocent, but when they go bad, they go bad. I'm talking Darth Vader bad." Garcia said as we could hear her typing away through the phone. "He came here to start over." Agent Rossi stated. "Garcia, was he charged with murder at any point?" I asked, hoping for the answer to be yes just so we would finally know who the unsub was. "No, the victim wanted him to go back out and start working once he was done cutting her." Garcia answered. I sighed and looked up at Agent Hotchner, hoping that he would have a conclusion. "He's not our unsub." Agent Hotcher said. There was silence in the room as we all looked at him, our eyes wide and the sheriff's mouth gaping.

Once we dug deeper, we figured out that Gordon Borrell was going to meet with the suspected unsub at a local diner. A deputy drove there and spotted him, letting us all know before we jumped into our cars and hurried over to the diner. As soon as we arrived, we stepped out of the cars with our guns loaded, making sure to stay behind the car door for extra protection if the bullet proof vests were not enough. Our guns were aimed at the diner, waiting to see any movement from Borrell. The entire area was silent.

"We need to get around the perimeter." The sheriff said after what seemed hours of waiting, but as he started to walk, a bullet struck him in the stomach. "Shots fired! Shots fired!" A deputy shouted. Agent Hotchner spotted Borrell through a window and shot at him with no luck, the bullet only doing damage to the glass. At this point, the air was filled with the sound of bullets being shot and glass shattering. Ever time we spotted him, we would shoot. Another cop was shot down by Borrell, but we had to remain in our positions. I finally spotted him and was in a good position to shoot, so I ran out from behind the car door and quickly aimed my gun, only to be shot at, luckily the bullet hit the car window instead of me as I ducked down.

"Chloe!" Reid shouted, running over to me and pushing me out of the way. He was then shot in the shoulder and fell down to the ground. "Reid!" Agent Morgan called out to him, looking back for a moment before running over towards Reid and I, helping me carry Reid behind the car. Gun shots were still being fired, but it was as if everything and everyone around me had gone mute. Agent Morgan ordered me to stay with Reid as him and JJ went back to shooting.

Reid was propped up against the cop car, his eyes were closed and head tilted to the side. For a moment, I wondered if he was still even breathing. I turned his head towards me and checked for a pulse. Once I realized that he was still alive, I checked back to see where the others had gone. They all entered the diner, leaving Reid and I outside. Muffled gun shots could be heard. I looked back over at Reid. He was bleeding. A lot. There was blood all over him and around him and he was having a hard time keeping his eyes open. I could tell that I was losing him. "Reid, please stay with me." I whispered, cupping his face in my hands. "We need a medic! T-there's too much blood." I called out to the nearby deputies. I tried to keep my focus on Reid, but I couldn't stop looking at all of the blood he had lost already. It was way too much and I wasn't exactly sure of how much longer he could go. "Hey, hey you're doing great." I looked into his eyes which were fighting to stay open. He weakly smiled at me. "Eyes on me, okay? Eyes on me." I whispered again. He mouthed 'okay' and looked at me for a split second, but then his eyes closed and head dropped down. "No. No, no , no. Adam, please. Spencer Reid, open your eyes." I demanded him, unaware at the time that I had just called him by my ex-boyfriend's name. "Hurry!" I screamed, wondering why the medics had not arrived yet.

Finally, an ambulance pulled up and before I could even register what was happening, Reid was being lifted onto a stretcher and brought into the ambulence. "Can I ride in the back with him?" I asked one of the medics. "No, m'aam. He is in bad shape." She told me before closing the back door, leaving me standing there. A deputy gave me and JJ directions to the hospital and we quickly jumped into one of the cars and drove there in complete silence.

"Did you kill him?" I asked, trying to hold back tears although my words came out extremely shakey. JJ pulled into the hospital parking lot and parked the car before replying. "Yeah, Morgan got him." She looked over at me and gave me a sad smile. I returned the same smile before getting out of the car. The two of us rushed into the hospital.

The doctor had told us that Reid was in surgery, and that we had to stay in the waiting room to receive further news. JJ and I sat in silence, both looking down at our hands. I decided to break the silence after about ten minutes, "He pushed me out of the way." I blinked hard, a tear falling down onto my thigh. "If he doesn't make it-"

"He'll make it." JJ cut me off.

"He has to. He's...he's too young. We all are." I mumbled, my thoughts somewhere else. It was only the second week of me being here, and already I've witnessed the death of a sheriff, and one of my teammates whom I have connected the most with was stuck on an operation table fighting for his life. If he hadn't come out to block me from getting shot, he wouldn't be there right now getting pricked and probed by a surgeon. "Yeah, there's still things for him to do." JJ started to talk. "You know he wants kids? I can't even imagine Spence as a dad." She let out a light chuckle, I looked over at her and did the same. "I can picture a bunch of little geniuses running around. With their glasses and textbooks." I said while chuckling.

"You all can see Agent Morgan now." A doctor in grey scrubs said as he walked towards us. JJ looked over to me. "I'd really like to stay here, if you don't mind." I said to the blonde. "Of course. Call me as soon as you hear anything, okay?" I nodded. She smiled and followed the doctor.

After about an hour or so, I was called in by the same doctor who told me that Reid was going to make it. Once I heard that, I finally felt like I could breathe again. The doctor directed me towards Reid's hospital room, telling me that he was asleep but would soon wake up.

The sight of him laying there peacefully made me smile, even with the bandages covering his neck and shoulders. His hair was even more tousled than usual and the slight hum of his breathing almost put me to sleep as I sat there waiting for him to wake up.

It didn't take a while for Reid to wake up, actually, he started to open his eyes about two minutes after I had walked in.

I practically jumped out of my seat and hurried over to his bed. "When these bandages come off, I'm going to look just like Boris Karloff." He mumbled, slowly regaining consciousness. I lightly chuckled, thinking about Reid starring as Frankenstein. "Add a little green makeup and you'll have the best halloween costume ever." I replied while smiling ear to ear. Even though the poor kid just got out of surgery because he was extremely close to dying, he still managed to have a sense of humor the minute he woke up. He let out a small laugh before closing his eyes, his brows scrunched up tight. He stayed like that for a moment before reopening his eyes, as if he had just remembered something.

"Everybody's fine. Don't worry." I assured him, thinking that was what he remembered. He shook his head, "I'm not." I combed my fingers through his hair, moving it away from his face.

"Yeah, I can tell."
