Y/n's POV

I hurried downstairs and into the bathroom. I panted as I washed off my flustered face.

"The Nooklings...What did they want to ask me? Could it be that they wanted me to-... Pfft- No! No way! They wouldn't have wanted me as their- mom... I'm not sure if I can even handle the responsibility! Besides... I'm sure they meant to say something else...

Although... It would be fun to have kids... No! no! What am I even thinking!" I argue with myself as I shake my head back and forth. I take off all the flashy garments and slip into my pink pajamas. It was hard to think of myself as a mother, especially since that meant me and Nook would have to...

PFFT-...

I laugh at myself and then sigh.

The Nooklings were a surprise to me when I first became mayor. You don't see kids owning their own business at that age! It was fun visiting them once in a while at their shop. I remember when they first started off at 'Nookling Junction' I enjoyed helping them expand. Before I knew it, Timmy and Tommy now owned a whole market! I have to say I am truly proud of them. They are good kids and I love them as if they were my children... Of course, they aren't really... But it's nice to think about it...

3rd person POV

"Whatever were you boys thinking!?" Nook Panics.

"Well, we thought it would be too cold for Ms. Y/n downstairs so we invited her to sleep here!" Timmy explains. "Yes, yes. We promise not to take up much space!" Tommy nods.

"Oh, boys... That's nice but-..." Nook paused.

"But what, Uncle Nook?" Timmy tilts his head.

"Well, you see, boys - it's different when the three of us sleep together in comparison to having Ms. Y/n here." Nook tried to clarify.

"What do you mean?" Tommy scratched his head.

"Well-... You see... You two are children and Ms. Y/n and I are adults. And well... Er... I-It's different when two grown-ups-erm... S-sleep in the same bed..." Nook hesitates to explain.

"Didn't you and Ms. Y/n have a sleepover last time?"

"Well...Y-yes, but that was a different occasion you see-..." Nook gestures.

"Is it because you like her, Uncle Nook?" Timmy raised his eyebrow.

"Well, It's em... C-complicated..." Nook twiddles his fingers.

"Oooh, Uncle Nook is blushing!" Timmy giggled. "🎶Uncle Nook likes Y/n, Uncle Nook likes Y/n!🎶" Tommy chants.

"WHA- Oh d-don't be silly now!" Nook sputters. "Let's not get carried away either. I know you boys love Ms. Y/n very much but... Let's not pressure her to do something she hasn't thought about yet. For example, being a 'Mother'"

Timmy and Tommy looked at Nook with sad eyes. "She doesn't want to be our Mom?" Timmy's playful smile turns into a worried expression.

"No, no. That's not what I meant. All I am saying is that we should give her some space, a little more time to think about it. It's a great responsibility to be a parent after all." Nook nods.

"If Ms. Y/n does want to be our mom does that mean you'll marry her Uncle Nook?" Tommy tilts his head.

"I- Er-... I s-suppose so..." Nook's face becomes red in thought. "B- but this is not the time to discuss such- matters..." He shook his head.

Nook's POV

The nooklings see Ms. Y/n as the mother they never had... Their love for her is truly adoring. I've never seen them so attached to a person, it seems they are closer to the mayor than I thought... But how will I ever tell the boys that being a parent is not as easy as they perceive and that maybe Ms. Y/n won't be up to the task...
