KILLUA POV • TIME SKIP
I don't recognize the body in front of me, bandaged head to tail and attached to an IV. If I didn't know better, I would think it's a corpse. Even without seeing the face, my eyes well up.
"Brother? Are you ok?" Alluka asks gently.
"Alluka, can you turn into Nanika?" I ask coldly.
"'Kay."
"Killua," a voice squeals. I recognize it and look up. "Nanika." My voice breaks. "Heal Y/N."
"'Kay." She walks up to Y/N. Another immense flash of aura flows from her and into Y/N.
The world goes quiet as I wait. Nanika's power is terrifyingly strong and around the hospital, I hear shouts. I wait in suspense, tears dripping down my face and onto my legs. My fists clench the bedsheets. That's when Y/N jolts up.
The bandaids unravel, and I see that she's in her light form. Her hair is flowing somehow, and her wings are unfurled.
"Y/N!" I scream, standing up from my seat, running to her side, and hugging her. She hugs me back, and my tears fall onto her shoulders.
When I finally let go, she smiles at me beautifully. Then it turns to a look of confusion as she tilts her head. "I'm sorry. Do I know you?"
My heart stops. "You don't remember me?"
She shakes her head. "I'm sorry. Should I?"
I step back, my eyes glassing over as I try to read her face. It's smooth and unwrinkled with no indication of anything. It's blank. My knees break and I hold onto the hospital bed's banister to steady myself. There's no way this is happening.
I feel more tears slipping down my face. Everything...gone. All of our memories, our promises, everything.
A small hand touches my shoulder. "Brother?" Alluka.
I can't bear for Alluka to see me like this, but I can't bear to have Y/N like this, either.
I hear Y/N's voice. "Hello, darling."
"Hello!"
"Is he your brother?"
"Yes!"
"Can I speak to him alone. please?"
"Sure!" She walks outside and sits on a bench.
I hastily wipe my tears, looking up at her. She's sitting in bed, watching me. She's still, her entire focus solely on me.
I find my voice. "What do you remember?" My voice cracks at the end.
She chews on her lip, furrowing her brow and looking up as she tries to focus. "Honestly, not a lot. I know my mom recently died, and my father had abandoned us. Grandpa's been trying to get ahold of me. I know I'm homeless right now. Did something happen that got me in the hospital?" She looks back at me.
