Hanji's POV
Constant ringing of my phone kept nagging at me. Buzz, buzz, buzz. Over and over. Even when I muted it and flipped my phone over, I wanted to look it over and confirm it was him calling me. I don't mind being in a mutual friendship with Erwin, but... this was close to insanity. Levi was up late at his apartment, trying to fix it all up to finish packing tomorrow. Yet he was taking his sweet time...
Damn midget.
Finally, I gave into it all. I picked it up and answered with an annoyed tone. "What is it, Erwin?"
"Just wanted to talk," he replied, sighing with relief. "How have you been? As I heard, you're with Levi and-"
"How did you even know about him?" Scowling softly, I shook my head. I can't believe it. He knows about that as well? Probably from his pals in the police department. After all, lawyers all have little connections to officers. "That doesn't matter. Yes, I'm in a relationship with Levi. Does that matter?"
"I mean... it does when I hear you're pregnant with his kid." If I could only drop everything... "Hanji, are you really okay with that? I mean, you told me before you might not have kids... and now, you're having one."
Turning on my back on the bed, I sighed. I've thought about it for a long time... I was... I was... "With all my heart, I truly love having this unborn baby inside of me. And honestly, I'm happy to know it's Levi's. He's a good guy, Erwin."
"Is he?"
"Don't pull one of those lawyers thing on me, Erwin. I don't doubt it- not one bit. I gained a little bit of information about Levi through a few paperwork here. So I know his past. Don't try to distort my view on him. Plus... Levi's serious about the baby."
"Serious? How serious?"
"He's going to be a real father to my baby. So please, don't worry about me. I'm alright, okay?"
Sighing once more, I debated to hang up on him. Yet... I wanted to see if he has changed. Of course, I'm never leaving Levi. I just wanted to be his friend. "You're really happy to be in a relationship with Levi and this baby, huh? I guess I was wrong."
"Wrong? Wrong about what?"
"Nothing, Erwin. Just drop it. Did you want to talk about anything else?"
"Honestly, no. I don't want to talk about anything else. You're happy with Levi... so what's the point to fight to be in a relationship with you? it's practically useless to fight back. Useless to even ask you to come back to my side."
My head nodded with confirmation. "Yeah, you're right about that. I won't go to you. That's final."
* * *
Finally, Levi came back to me with some sort of frantic look. I mean, I stayed up in the room as I heard him walking all over the ground floor. Whatever he did, I would never know. Maybe he was hiding stuff in his hiding spaces... it was just a wonder. Before he crawled back into bed with me, he went and showered.
When he came back, his hair was damp and stuck to his head. I noticed he was wearing something around his neck- that's new to me. "You good?" He asked, leaning closer to me. "Sorry I took so long..."
"Erwin called," I confessed to Levi, sighing softly. "He knows about the baby... have you been bragging it off?" Hoping it would ease the tension, I chuckled softly. "I mean, I wouldn't mind if you were bragging it off. You're gonna be a father soon..."
"I didn't want people to know. Other officers tease me, you know? They think you're out of my league."
"Out of your league? I wonder what would be in your league..." Teasing him a bit more as he nuzzled his head in my neck. "What considers me out of your league... men these days are so confusing..."
"They just think I would never be with you. Proved them wrong, huh?" Levi smiled softly, caressing my cheek with his thumbs. "Anyways, are you having trouble sleeping? Or was Erwin's call a few minutes before I came home?"
Chuckling softly, I thought about it. "Both, actually. I couldn't sleep because I kept feeling nauseous and stuff like that. Plus, Erwin's kept trying to call me... I ignored it until I finally answered it. But now, you're here. I think I can sleep easier... thank you for being here..."
