Hanji's POV
The constant questions concerning Levi continue to plague me. Apparently, it was all my fault for not waking up the children so they can say their goodbyes to him. Eren was the most vocal out of them all. Am I surprised? Not really. It first started at least an hour after Levi had left the orphanage, Eren ran down the stairs with utter surprise.
"Miss Hanji- where's Big Bro Levi?"
"Big Bro Levi?" Taken aback from his words, it took me a few seconds to come back to my senses. "Oh... he went back to work. Were you wanting to see him before he left?"
Eren crossed his arms, pouting with steam coming out of his ears. "I wanna say goodbye to him! Call him, please?! Please, please, please?!" His arms never left his chest, but he was adamant about a phone call to him.
Being me, I gave into his demands. Dialing Levi's number, Eren snatched it out of my hands once the phone started to ring. Should I tell him Levi might be busy with his work and might not be able to talk to him? Well... I wish I could've sent a message to Levi- it's too late now... I'll have to comfort Eren if it comes down to another tantrum.
"Big Bro Levi!" Eren shouts, turn his whole emotion 180 degrees. "Why didn't you say goodbye to me? Did you not wanna say goodbye to me...? Did you hate me...?"
Whatever Levi said, it seemed to have cheered Eren up- only temporarily.
"You're coming later on?! Can we get snacks?! Miss Hanji doesn't give us snacks unless we behave..."
"Eren," I chuckled, shaking my head with slight disbelief, "I'm right here, you know? I can hear every word you're saying. Plus, it's my phone too. So don't get mad, okay?"
It was... adorable... to say the least. Eren jumped up with a squeal and tries to run away. Yet I still followed him... just what I used to do. Running around in circles... trying to catch him as he tried to escape from my grasp.
"B-Big Bro Levi! Come back soon, please!" Eren shouts into the phone before I whisked it away from his chubby hands. As soon as that happened, pattering footsteps upstairs echoed through the empty halls.
I smiled brightly, turning back to my phone. "I'm so sorry about that, Levi..."
Levi chuckled a bit, almost like a hint of true amusement. "That's fine. I should've said something to them before I left."
"Are you..." what was I saying? These words were leaving my mouth faster than I expected them to come out. I can't even... comprehend what I'm even saying... "Are you coming soon?" Once I've realized what I said, my words sputtered out. "I-I mean... you did promise Eren... ahaha..."
"You know... what Eren said about snacks... would you care for doughnuts? Just text me what everyone wants. That includes Nanaba. Or just anyone there."
"I'll text you when the kids all wake up."
Right before I hung up, Levi gave one more message to me. "Oh, and Hanji?" His tone was... ominous. Almost like I was standing in front of some huge fear of mine. "We need to talk... about Erwin."
"H-How did you-"
"I'll tell you more when I get there with the doughnuts. I promise."
