Levi's POV

"Levi- what... what is that?" Farlan gave an eyeroll just as Isabel was passing by. "Did you seriously go to the pound or something during your lunch break? I expected you to go and visit Hanji but... you brought a dog instead?!"

The German shepherd pup was in my lap, huffing and puffing. As Farlan concluded his questions, the pup gave a slight howl. "I mean... I wouldn't have time after work. This one just happened to be in a shelter when I passed by."

"You did not pass by a shelter without having the intention to adopt a dog. You're not even a dog person!"

"Farlan, we may have grown up with each other- hell, we even work in the same place. You do not know what goes in my head. That's where I keep all my secrets. I won't let anyone get into my head-"

"Oh, yet this Hanji woman was able to dig her way through your stone barriers. Dude, she's changing you... I mean, not in a bad way. I kinda like this. You were always so cold and just so... stiff. Now, you're just a changed man. Huh. Interesting." Farlan sighed heavily, pointing to the pup in my lap. "Anyways- boy or girl?"

"Boy."

Isabel's eyebrows rose with a chuckle. "It's such a cute puppy though! I love him! Especially his little saddle on his back- aw... do you have a name for him?"

My head shook as I scratched behind the pup's ears. "No. I mean, the name he was given was like... Louie or something like that. For this kind of dog, I wouldn't name him that. Hoping either Hanji would name him. Better yet, those kids at the orphanage. I wonder what they'll name him."

Farlan gave a smile, nodding his head. "Alright then. Just know- potty training a puppy that young... well, I would think you wouldn't mind it because you don't sleep at all. Just keep a close eye on him. That's my advice for you."

"Will do."

"You did what?!" Hanji's eyes lit up when I carried the puppy into the orphanage. He was yipping softly as Hanji gently ran her fingers through his fur. "Levi, this is... why?"

"Why not?" I chuckled, kissing her on the cheek. "I know it's not your birthday yet- but... as soon as I saw this puppy in the shelter, I couldn't have let it go. Besides, it's a German Shepherd... I think it'll scare anyone who tries to come into the orphanage. And I think they're the most gentle ones..."

"Do you have a name for him?" She asks, practically cuddling him. "Aww... he's so sweet... I love him, Levi..."

Just hearing that from her... it was enough for me. Enough for me to smile... enough for me to know that proposing to her would be around the corner. "To answer your question- no, I don't have a name from him. What would you like to name him?"

"I... uh..." Nervous chuckles rose from her. "I don't have a name to give him... but- the kids should be coming home soon. I think they should name him."

"Just for your information, you have veto powers on what names to reject. This is your dog now. Technically the orphanage's dog... but remember, I gifted him to you. Even though it's my name on there... it's your dog..."

"Does that mean he can sleep with us in my room?"

"Your dog, your rules." I chuckled, giving her another kiss. "I love you, Hanji..."

She smiles back, taking my hand and carefully placing it on her stomach. "Levi Ackerman, I love you too... you and this baby of ours... I love you all... so please... don't ever leave me..."

Whispering softly into her ear, I made a promise I shall never break. I have no intentions on breaking it. "Hanji, I promise... I'll never leave you. I'll be the best man for you... I'll be the best father... I'll do anything... I promise... I won't hurt you..."
