Hanji's POV
"Eren, do we need to talk?" I asked him as he was busy watching TV with his friends. He had that smile on his face; that innocence he had... "More so on why you had my phone when that officer came by."
That smile never went away. "But Ms. Hanji..." He started out, stating out his innocence once more. Grabbing his feet and swaying back and forth. "You gave me permission to use it after he came... and I still had it when he left... so I put his number on it."
"Without telling me?"
Eren giggles, smiling brightly. "He's better than your boyfriend."
"Eren, I love you, but keep your little nose out Erwin's business. Do you understand me?" For some reason, Eren paused and quickly put his tiny, chubby hands over his nose. "Eren?"
"I don't have a tiny nose!"
I smiled, leaning towards him and gifting a kiss on his forehead. "Of course not. You're a big boy." After patting his head, I gave a heavy sigh. "And since you're a big boy... you have to take care of your siblings. I have a big plan with Erwin-"
"Why him?" He begins to pout as his bottom lip curved with disappointment. Eyes growing wide with such anger. "Why him?" He repeats his question. "He's not a good guy... he's scawee..."
"Erwin's not a bad guy," I say, continuing to kiss him on the forehead, "and I love him with all of my heart. One day, Eren, you'll know what I mean. May it be another boy or a girl, you'll love them with all your heart. You know... dedicating your heart to ensure they have a happy life with you."
Eren shook his head with disgust filling his face. "Eww... gross..."
My eyes rolled slightly as I chuckled. It seemed only Eren and I were engaged in a conversation about love. The others were too busy watching the powers of friendship on the TV with cartoon characters. With the hours I have left here... I held Eren close to my chest- stroking his hair with my fingers. I love these children with all of my heart... I wonder if one day... if I ever have kids... would they be jealous? Jealous that I'll have a baby... and that baby would have a family?
I wonder...

"Ah, Nanaba!" I chuckled as she got home from her university classes. Though she had those weary looks on her face with sunken bags under her eyes, she continued to smile. A smile that'll last for a lifetime. "Stressful day?"
"Ehh... as school usually is." She chuckles, looking around. "So uh... Rico is coming over tonight- you remember her? Friend of a friend?"
"Ah, yeah- I do remember her. Glasses, right? We've been in touch a few times here and there. She's coming over to watch the kids as well? How sweet of her." I chuckled, trying to put the contact lens in my eyes for my date tonight. "Oh- I nearly forgot to tell you something."
Nanaba chuckled, swiping her ice cream out of the freezer and sitting on the counter. "Oh yeah? That seems completely like you. What did you forget to tell me?"
"An officer is coming over to watch the kids-"
If she had ice cream in her mouth, she would've spat it out in surprise. Flabbergasted, she attempted to speak, but nothing would make sense. Random noise as she tried to form sentences. Somehow, she managed to force the words out of her mouth.
"O-Officer?!"
"He'll be off-duty-"
"That's completely different than me bring Rico along! Why is an officer gonna be here?! What did you do this time, Hanji?" She had a hint of a playful tone, knowing the last time I had an officer visit me- though it was years ago since that incident! "Hanji, girl, tell me."
Heavily sighing, I began to brush my hair as my back was turned on the refrigerator. Thus, my tale began on how I met this Officer Levi. Nanaba gave a few nods of understanding, then a few looks of confusion- especially the part where he called me earlier, mistaking it was the phone number the kids had given him. After it was all over, Nanaba sighed, finally biting into her ever-melting ice cream.
"All that because Eren got lost? Did the officer ever say anything about it? Anything else than him investigating this case?"
My head shook. "No... he didn't. But I think he knows something I don't. I hear it in his voice. He still suspects me... but I think he knows something about Eren. Why he was beaten up and ran away from me... I want to know what happened."
"I'll talk to Eren... if he doesn't want to tell you, I'll ask." Nanaba smiled gently and chuckled. "Either way, go ahead and have fun on your date. It'll be a blast knowing the kids dislike Erwin."
"I want to know what made them hate him. Erwin did nothing wrong."
"Maybe he's too intimidating?"
My head shook as I remember what Eren said. "No... I mean, Erwin's a lawyer, but Levi... he was an officer. Eren actually approved of him much more than Levi. His cold eyes and just his... it scared me half to death. I mean his size was just... a façade. He's truly is scary..."
"Size?" Nanaba had this confused grin on her face. "Hanji, you need to be specific right there."
"His height. He was... 5 something... a short guy, to say the least."
"Maybe the kids like people who are smaller so they can interact with them better. Who knows? Kids are weird like that..." She continued eating her ice cream... and we didn't speak another word about Levi. Even saying his name now sends chills down my back. I shivered when I thought of hearing his voice again.
Now... I wonder...
Am I really afraid of him?

A few minutes before Erwin arrived, Levi came up with his personal car. My guess was that he didn't head back home- he was still in his uniform. As soon as he walked in, Eren hopped out from the couch and ran to him. Somehow... he got this police hat on him.
"I took good care of it!" He shouts to Levi. "See? See?!"
Levi gave a slight chuckle, gently smiling. "I see it very clearly, Eren. Thanks."
"Are you gonna leave soon?"
"Not tonight, Eren. Tonight, I'll stay. I'll stay with you guys until I work tomorrow." Levi's cold tone... it was somehow different. Almost warm-like.
Nanaba nudged me on my arm, chuckling as well. "Cold tone? That doesn't seem like it. But you know what it does seem like? You're pushing this guy away from you. But it makes complete sense. You're dating some other guy and your loyalty will only go towards Erwin. Maybe in another life, you can hook up with a guy like that officer."
"Nanaba!" I shouted through gritted teeth. Yet she only responded with loud chuckles. It must've summoned Levi towards us- probably because of how loud Nanaba was. "Ah- Levi-" I said, trying to not look at his stormy gray eyes. "Thanks again for watching the kids."
"I told you, I had plans to visit them tonight anyways. Good luck on... whatever you're doing." He gave a soft scoff before he walked back towards the kids. Then... he starts picking up their mess and neatly putting it away. Usually, people have the kids do it. Not themselves... strange...
Suddenly, there was a honking noise at the front door- Erwin.
"Gotta go guys- have fun!" I shouted as I grabbed my purse with my phone and wallet inside. The kids all gave saddened cries of goodbye as I left. It pained my heart to hear those cries of theirs...
