Hanji's POV

What was happening today? Just as the kids were all riled up for the doughnuts Levi was bringing, Erwin dropped on by today. What did Levi have to say to me that Erwin dropped in unexpectedly? I mean... I'm glad to see him... but it was completely uncalled for. When he popped in... I could tell he was here because Eren was complaining.

"Miss Hanji..." I turned towards him, pointing to the front door. "The bad man is here."

Taking a deep breath, Armin slipped through my arms as I went to the front door. "The bad man- you mean Erwin?" I sighed once more as I saw his figure behind the frosted glass. "Eren, how many times do I have to tell you? Don't scare me like that."

"But... but... but he's really a bad man!"

"He's not a bad man, Eren." I sighed heavily as I opened the door with an exhausting smile. "Hey, Erwin... did you need something?"

He nodded slightly, sighing as he welcomed himself in. Leaning against the wall, Erwin gave a glance outside before whispering under his breath. "Is there a way we can talk in private? Away from the kids?"

"Absolutely not. Nanaba isn't here- I'm the only adult here that can watch over the kids, Erwin. Unless you want to wait for at least another hour or so..."

"Why's that?"

"Oh- Levi's coming over." Just seeing that jealous scowl on his face, I had ensure he heard it correctly. "He left earlier this morning without telling the kids. Essentially, he promised to come here with doughnuts to make up for the kids."

"Did he say anything?"

"Just that he wanted to talk to me once he's done with work."

Erwin sighed, slight pushing me back. "Then let's talk quickly-" At that moment, the doorbell was ringing. No idea what caused the sound, Eren ran off to answer it with a huge smile hanging on his face. "Eren, don't answer it!" Erwin shouts, and that got me to smack Erwin on the arm.

"Don't yell at them, Erwin."

"Miss Hanji!" Eren shouts, giggling with Levi behind him. "He's here! He's here!"

Just as my eyes met Levi, I was met with an overwhelming weight. Too many things happening at once. Erwin wants to talk... Levi wants to talk... something is going on... and I have no clue on what's going on. Who to listen first?

"Miss Hanji! He got us doughnuts! He got us doughnuts!"

Smiling, I bent over a bit to nuzzle Eren with my nose. "Ah, he did? Maybe you take the doughnuts to the others in the living room. As long as you guys are behaving, I will allow you guys to eat in the living room. Do you understand me?"

Eren nodded his head, reaching his chubby hands out to Levi. "I'll take it to them!"

"Thanks," Levi says gently as he handed the box of doughnuts to the small child, "don't make a mess else I'll make you guys clean it up. Adults here need to talk."

Eren, once more, nodded his head with innocence hanging on his head. "Yes... I understand." Those were his last words before he made a dart out of the kitchen area. Almost muffled, I could hear Eren shouting, "Big Bro Levi got all of us doughnuts!" Then... there's the cheers of joy. No doubt devouring it down.

"So, Erwin," Levi's cold voice forced me to turn back to their presence. "Are you going to tell Hanji what happened earlier? Or should I have to tell her myself?"

"Erwin?"

With a heavy sigh, Erwin confessed to the event that took place early this morning. "I got curious on who this Levi person was. Went to the police office to figure out who it was. If you only told me he was an officer-"

"That what?" Almost anger came out of me with an explosive blow. "You did the exact same thing with Nanaba. You thought I was cheating on you... really, Erwin?"

"I... I had to ensure, Hanji. You know I have trust issues- you know that, remember?"

Slightly, my head nodded in agreement. "Yeah, I remember. I rebuilt that trust with you from that... but really? Maybe the kids were right on something. Can't believe the kids were telling me something that I should've listened... yet I didn't listen to them."

"Hanji, are you... what?" Erwin looked at me with such eyes of betrayal. But almost like he expected it. Almost expecting the fact that I wanted to break up with him long before he came here.

"Not breaking up. Just a break, Erwin. I want to take a break." Without another word, I walked away from them and into the kids' playroom.

Honestly, I wanted to bawl my eyes out. Hide under the covers and just hide from the world. But the kids were nearby... I had to be strong for them. I can cry later... they need me the most. Yet... I still fell to my knees. Tears wouldn't fall normally, but I can still feel their thorns.

Footsteps started to echo in the hall- heavy, yet quiet. "Hanji?" Levi's voice calmly floated out to me. "Are you okay?" No answer to him. "After that, I assume you're not that great."

"I can't take a few minutes to myself?"

Levi sat next to me, holding something in his hand. All I saw was like a wad of paper towels- napkins? Tissues? "You can. But Erwin just left. The kids are eating. Only one person who's not accounted for is you. Here, eat it."

Looking up, turns out he had a chocolate doughnut in his hand with tissues. "Doughnut..."

"I had to pry this from the kids' grasps. Kidding." Giving an awkward laugh, Levi sighed and confessed to me. "Actually, I knew the kids were going to eat all those doughnuts. So I bought a separate box just for you. Here, eat one for now. You'll feel better with a bit of sugar in your system."

Tugging at my face was a joyful smile. "Thank you..." I muttered, wiping my tears and taking a bite of the sweet delight. "Really... thanks..."

"Sorry I had to come by. Erwin came by and I knew you probably didn't like the fact he went to investigate me. But I feel you shouldn't be lied to. I made a difficult choice, and I'm sorry about the outcome-"

"Don't be sorry..." I smiled gently, feeling my unhappiness fade away from me. "Actually... I'm just a bit lost..."

"Then I'll accompany you. Just until you don't feel lost anymore."
