You swore you didn't imagine Jareth holding you over a cliff, but it was like it almost never happened. Hoggle didn't even notice that you were being held over the cliff. Jareth's words, "It's too late to be grateful!", kept running through your head like a broken record. The words wouldn't stop until you and Hoggle reached the end of the maze. What could he possibly mean by that? Hoggle noticed that your mind was wondering off somewhere else but he didn't bother asking you what was wrong. You soon reached another turn and a goblin came out, enthusiastically. "What's a seven letter word and contains dozen of letters?!" You looked down at Hoggle, since you already knew this one.

"Hoggle, I got this."

"Great! While you do that, I'm going to take a pee."

"Eww!" You said with a chuckle, he then walked away from you while you answered the riddle. "A mail-" you were interrupted by the goblin.

"NARF!" You were visibly confused but tried again

"..A ma-"

"NARF!!"

"... AMAIL_"

"NARF NARF!!"

"Oh for pete sake!" You said in a frustrated tone, "What is your problem!!"

"NARF NARF NARFNARFNARFNARFNARFNARF-" The goblin, going absolutely crazy, then blew up. I guess you didn't need to answer the riddle, you shrugged and Hoggle came up next to you.

"What happened?" he ask, surveying the area for the goblin.

"I don't know, he just kinda...blew up?"

"Weird." he said, walking in front of you while you followed.

The thought and words of Jareth still played in head, it feels as if it will never leave. Hoggle sees how much you're dissociating and decided to breaks his silence.

"Y/N, where is your head at?" Hoggle asked.

"Sorry Hoggle. I can't seem to get Jareth's words out of my mind."

"What words would that be?"

"Well, when you were away while I was reading the wall, Jareth said to me something about it being too late to be grateful. I don't know what he means by it."

"Hm," He said, scratching his chin "Maybe Jareth meant that after everything he did, he did for you. Moved the stars for no one." You stopped in your tracks as Hoggle said the words. Those words. Jareth said those words to you right before he push you out the window all those years ago "Maybe, Jareth didn't want to let you go."

That's something Hoggle wouldn't say. He despises Jareth, he wouldn't say something to basically defend Jareth. You knew something was wrong, but you had to find out what. So you decided to test something out to see if your theory was right. "Let me go?" You said, suspiciously.

"Well, like I said before, Jareth loves you. Why would he throw you off a cliff?"

"Hoggle...I didn't say anything about a cliff." Hoggle froze with fear and went pale.

"Oh- uh um well uh-" He stuttered "I can only assume that's something he do, love."

"What did you call me, Hogwart?"

The imposter went wide eyed when he realized he called you love.

"Noth- nothing, Y/N. I don't know what you're talking about."

That's when you knew you had the imposter right where you wanted them. You were right, it's not Hoggle. Hoggle always corrects whoever messes up his name. You picked up a big stick to defend yourself from the imposter. You then asked,

"Who are you? And don't say Hoggle, because I know you're not."

"Speak no more!" He said while throwing white, glitter powder in your face. Inhaling the glitter cloud made you cough while it also made you dizzy. Your vision went blurry and you fell to the ground. The feet, that used to be Hoggle, no longer stood there, instead, it was a pair of black boots.

"Sweet dreams, Y/N." Said a familiar voice as everything faded to black.
