The Orphan

Chapter Nine.

Autumn-

Going to school was a mistake, it's been less than a minute after I'd walked in the door and I already had Dylan on my back.

"Did you seriously run away from me?!" he yelled.

Yes I did.

"Why won't you come back to us? are we not good enough for you!" he screamed.

I wanted so badly to keep quiet, just let him yell at me, but he was already making a scene and my brain and mouth weren't connected...

"Shut the fuck up Dylan! Did you ever think it wasn't about you! did you ever stop and think to yourself that maybe, just maybe, I wanted to be around the one normal person who can make me laugh and smile and couldn't care less about the fact that I'm an orphan!" I hissed at him keeping voice low and venomous.

He looked shocked at my out burst.

He could have done the right thing and apologized for his obsessing, but I knew otherwise.

"In other words, you've latched yourself onto the first guy who would even consider talking to you and so you fucked your way into staying with him!"

The flick of my wrist left Dylan with a red cheek and me with a stinging hand.

"Is that how you see me?! A desperate slut! Whatever happened to us being family and looking out for each other! are you so obsessed with me that you can't stand me hanging out with someone else?!" I hissed.

"Oh please! I'm far from obsessed with you!" he spat.

I rolled my eyes, "If that's so why don't you stop bitching about me and focus on your proposal plan for Tori while I  live my own life!" I screamed.

He turned red with embarrassment.

"How did you know about that?" he almost whispered.

"C'mon Dylan, everyone can tell! its not like it was top secret that you were both considering it, and you two are practically already married!"

He grew more red as I spoke and before I could look around Tori ran out of the crowded hallway.

Crap.

Mostly everyone was listening in to the fight as they do.

I kept my head down and ran after Tori.

Great. just great!

"Even your own kind think you're a worthless slut." Kerry muttered as I passed.

"Go fuck yourself!" I hissed back before exiting the hallway.

I found Tori on top of the maintenance shed that was positioned in an alleyway at the right hand side of the school.

I just managed to swing myself up and onto the roof.

"Tori what's wrong?" I asked truly confused.

"He was going to...propose? I thought he was going to break up with me. With you running away and everything, I thought he was just going to give up on everything." she sighed.

Why would Dylan give up on everything, just because I refused to go back to the house?

"Dylan loves you Tori, and come on you must have at least suspected he was going to ask to marry you."

She shook her head in shame, "maybe in a year or five but not now! I haven't even finished high school yet!"

Her tone had gotten from vulnerable to angry.
